To ensure a safe and trustworthy shopping experience for everyone, all products for sale on Walmart.com must comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. In this guide, you’ll learn about the types of products that can’t be sold on Walmart Marketplace and the rules that apply.
What is the policy?Â
- All products that are listed for sale on Walmart.com must comply with any applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- All product labels, information and images in a Walmart.com listing must be in English and must not contain any conflicting information.
- Information may be displayed in other languages if the information also appears in English.
- Where applicable, the information must follow the regulations set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in NIST Handbook 130 – Current Edition, IV. Uniform Regulations, G. Uniform E-commerce Regulation.
- Shipping labels must comply with all applicable requirements, including those of any government agencies that regulate the product being shipped. If you have questions about the laws and regulations for a product, consult your legal counsel.
Walmart strictly prohibits:
- Selling stolen goods on Walmart Marketplace. Selling stolen property is illegal and violates the property rights of rightful owners.
- Purchasing and shipping products from other online retailers (including but not limited to certain smart home devices and streaming media players) and using Walmart competitors to deliver packages. Learn more about Walmart’s Retail Arbitrage Policy.
- Reselling certain products from other online marketplaces. You must own the items you sell on Walmart.com and have the licensing rights to sell any branded products.
- Walmart will remove any product listing that may be incompatible with its brand or that violates law, this policy and the Walmart Marketplace Seller Retailer Policies. Corrective actions may be taken as circumstances dictate, including suspending or terminating your Marketplace account. Â
All Walmart Marketplace sellers are responsible for being aware of and compliant with all policies, rules and guidelines. Not all prohibited product categories or territories may be listed here. Walmart reserves the right to remove any product category in any Walmart Marketplace Prohibited Products Policy without notice.
This policy and additional guidelines are subject to change without notice. You’re responsible for ensuring that your items comply with this policy and any future amended or updated versions.

How Walmart manages prohibited products
Walmart reserves the right to unpublish and remove any items that infringe on our Prohibited Products Policies. Walmart also retains the authority to manage your inventory when we have these items in our custody, when mandated by law enforcement or regulatory agencies, or as we deem necessary at our sole discretion. Â
We may contact you about returning prohibited products that we have in our custody. If we don’t receive a response from you within five days, Walmart or Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) may return, destroy, dispose of or otherwise manage the prohibited products in a way that we find suitable, at our sole discretion. Any expenses incurred from this will be your responsibility. Other conditions may apply to any product that is recalled or withdrawn.
