Products subject to our policy on Knives and Other Melee Weapons must also adhere to other Prohibited Products Policies including our policy on Firearms and Firearm accessories, Ammunition, and Game guns or Walmart will automatically unpublish your item. 

What is the policy? 

Weapons are prohibited from sale on Walmart Marketplace.  For the purposes of this policy, “Weapons" refers to any instrument used for fighting, or offensive or defensive combat.  This includes certain knives, martial arts weapons, and self-defense items.

Knives and bladed weapons such as: 

  • Switchblades 
  • Butterfly knives 

  • Stiletto knives 

  • Automatic knives 

  • Out-the-front (OTF) knives 

  • Ballistic knives 

  • Gravity knives 

  • Daggers 

  • Swords 

  • Bayonets 

  • Pantera claws 

  • Karambits 

  • Hidden/disguised knives, such as belt buckle and lipstick knives 

  • Neck knives 

  • Push daggers 

  • Battle axes 

  • Throwing axes 

  • Throwing cards 

  • Throwing knives 

  • Throwing stars 

  • Spear heads 

  • Claws or spikes that attach to the shoe, other clothing item, or any body part 

 

Martial arts weapons such as: 

  • Nunchucks 

  • Bo staffs 

  • Koppo sticks 

  • Shurikens 

  • Kamas 

  • Sais 

  • Escrima sticks 
     

Other melee weapons such as: 

  • Brass knuckles 

  • Composite knuckles 

  • Wooden knuckles

  • Jewelry that looks like, or is designed to operate similar to brass knuckles 

  • Leaded canes 

  • Batons/nightsticks 

  • Saps, slapjacks and slungshots 

  • Maces and cudgels 

 

Items marketed as self-defense weapons such as: 

  • Baseball bats 

  • Belts 

  • Bottle openers 

  • Bracelets and necklaces 

  • Flashlights 

  • Keychains 

  • Pens 

  • Rings 

  • Wrenches 

Any marketplace seller who sells and fulfills these items must comply with state-specific laws: 

  • Mace/pepper spray 

  • Folding knives 

  • Culinary/kitchen knives 
  • Utility knives 

  • Fixed blade knives for purposes such as hunting/camping/fishing 

  • Foam/plastic martial arts weapons that are toys or for training 

  • Security alarm keychains
