Overview

Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) is a low-cost fulfillment solution, with imports, storage, reliable shipping, multichannel fulfillment and more. When a customer places an order on Walmart.com, we’ll pick, pack and ship the item to the customer. We also handle customer support and returns.

Any Marketplace seller can leverage WFS with a few extra steps. In this guide, explore the process from onboarding to your first sale.

Complete onboarding

All sellers need to verify their business and add market details. To use WFS, you’ll also need to add the following.

  • Contact: We’ll email this person with any account updates. If you have multiple team members, you can also create additional contacts for a content manager, warehouse manager and more.
  • Return address: Give a US address where we can send unsellable items, like customer returns that can’t be reshelved, damaged items or expired items. This can be the same facility where your seller-fulfilled returns go. Just give it a new name and alias that’s specific to WFS returns. To customize how items are handled, go to WFS settings: return rules.
  • Billing method: Add a US bank account or credit card for WFS fees. We’ll only charge you if we store your inventory and if your total Marketplace sales don’t cover fees. If you connect a bank account, we’ll verify it over 2-3 business days. Make sure you return to Billing Services to confirm the microdeposits. To learn more about billing methods, go to WFS settings: Add billing information.
Pro tip

If you’re already a Marketplace seller, you can add this information on the WFS page.

Set up catalog

You have flexibility in how you add items to your catalog. Go to Item setup methods: Overview to choose the option that works for you. Once your items are approved, they’ll be published on Walmart.com.

Whichever method you use, make sure to set Walmart Fulfilled as your fulfillment type. Walmart-fulfilled items require extra information for fulfillment and compliance, such as country of origin, trade item hierarchy and hazardous materials.

Even if you’ve already built a catalog, you can always switch the fulfillment type. All you need to do is convert items to WFS. If your WFS inventory runs out, customer orders will automatically switch to seller-fulfilled.

Send inventory

To fulfill orders, we need inventory on hand in our fulfillment centers. Tell us what inventory you’re sending and how by creating a shipping plan. A shipping plan includes items, distribution and carrier. We’ll also tell you which Walmart facilities to ship to. For a step-by-step guide, go to Send domestic inventory.

Prepare shipments

Once you’ve created a shipping plan, pack and label shipments following WFS guidelines. For example, all items must be labeled with scannable barcodes. Go to WFS routing guide overview for basic requirements. The carrier will then transport your inventory from your facility to the fulfillment center.

If you’re sending shipments with your own carrier, you’ll need to work with them to schedule pickup and a delivery appointment. If you use a Walmart preferred carrier, we’ll take care of it for you.

Track receiving

When a shipment arrives at a fulfillment center, we’ll inspect items, store them and make them available to sell on Walmart.com. It normally takes up to 2 business days to receive inventory from the time it was delivered. However, items that require unplanned prep work (e.g., incorrect labels, missing plan), or that arrive during sales events, holidays, peak months (October 1–December 31) or other circumstances may take up to 10 business days to process.

You can track where your shipment is and how many units are received on the Shipping Plans page.

Manage your WFS business

There’s no need for you to check customer orders as they come in. We’ll take care of orders, customer service and returns. Instead, use the following pages to track sales and inventory.

  • Sales: Analyze average GMV and units sold for your WFS items.
  • Payments: Check your statement for sales, fees and adjustments in each period.
  • Inventory: Track inventory levels for each WFS item. Make sure to send more inventory if your items are risk or out of stock.
