Overview

As a Walmart seller, there are a few fulfillment statuses. On the Items page, you'll see:

  • Seller fulfilled: Items that you manage, pack and ship to customers.

  • Walmart fulfilled (WFS): Items that Walmart store,s picks, packs and ships to customers on your behalf.

  • Seller fulfilled (WFS eligible): Items that can be fulfilled by either you or Walmart. These items aren't currently fulfilled by Walmart, but will be eligible once there's inventory at a fulfillment center.

When WFS has inventory for an item,* we’ll use dynamic offers and prioritize WFS to fulfill orders. However, if your WFS inventory is 0, customer orders will automatically switch to seller-fulfilled. You’ll then be responsible for shipping orders to customers.

Failing to acknowledge and ship seller-fulfilled orders, or canceling them too often will lower your performance metrics. Your Marketplace account may be suspended or terminated if you don’t meet the Seller Performance Standards

*Subject to Section 21(a) of the Retailer Agreement, it is the seller’s responsibility to maintain adequate levels of inventory and deliver the same to WFS facilities.

3 ways to prevent a fulfillment switch

The most important thing you can do is keep inventory levels – for seller-fulfilled and Walmart-fulfilled — accurate in Seller Center

Check inventory for seller-fulfilled items

While your items are on the way to WFS, make sure your seller-fulfilled inventory is regularly updated. You may get customer orders that you’ll need to fulfill in the meantime. If you don’t have any units for a seller-fulfilled item, set your inventory to 0. This will show it as out-of-stock on Walmart.com so customers can’t place orders.

Keep WFS inventory in stock

Regularly check the Inventory page for Walmart-fulfilled items. You can filter your catalog by at-risk and out-of-stock items. To restock items, create an inbound order and ship inventory to a fulfillment center.

Review customer orders

See the Orders page for unshipped customer orders. Use the Fulfilled by filter to find any unexpected, seller-fulfilled orders.
