Once you’ve created your Walmart Marketplace account and agreed to Walmart’s terms and conditions, you’ll use Seller Center to manage your Marketplace account and catalog. In this guide, you’ll learn how to finish setting up your Marketplace account in Seller Center.
Your items can be published on Walmart.com only after you’ve completed the account setup process in Seller Center.
Complete onboarding
Step 1 – Get verified
Business verification is a crucial step that helps us confirm your company’s credentials. To avoid delays in processing, enter your business information, including your entity type and tax registration. Your tax registration must precisely match your IRS records or government-issued documents.
You must also include personal information, including the personal ID of the applicant or legal representative, as required. Once you’re done setting up your account, business verification can vary from a few minutes to two business days.
If you’re based outside the U.S., you’ll need to provide additional verification, as well as location-specific documentation.
Step 2 – Add market details
Provide your customer service details. If you’re an international seller, you can provide your U.S. tax ID (if you have one) and your corresponding U.S. legal business name.
Step 3 – Manage fulfillment
This is the primary way you’ll ship to customers. You can always update this information or add more shipping methods later. Both methods require a verifiable return address.
Walmart Fulfillment Services: Select Ship with WFS if you want Walmart to pick, pack and ship items to the customer on your behalf. We’ll also handle all customer support and returns.
Seller-fulfilled shipping: Select Ship yourself if you want to pack and ship orders on your own. This method also offers protection against carrier delays using Walmart-calculated transit times. If you prefer to set your own transit times, select Manual Shipping Settings and then provide the required details for Return Labels, Return centers and Fulfillment center.
After you finish setting up your Marketplace account, you can manage your shipping settings anytime from the Shipping Profile section of your Account page in Seller Center.
Step 4 – Get paid
Choose how you want to get paid by setting up an account with a third-party payout provider or Marketplace Wallet. Payout provider options vary based on your country of incorporation. As a new seller, you’ll experience a New Seller Payment Hold after you begin selling on Walmart Marketplace to allow time to build sales history and credibility. The timeframe of this hold varies by your country of incorporation.
If you’re using Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS), you’ll need to add a billing method. We’ll only use this to cover your remaining balance after sales. Walmart will verify your billing method in two to three business days. You can start fulfilling items with WFS once account setup is complete.
Step 5 – Set up your catalog
You must complete the steps above before you can create your Marketplace catalog. When you’re ready, choose how you want to set up your catalog. For example, you can import your catalog from an external marketplace. Or if you’re a Walmart Drop Ship Vendor (DSV) or Warehouse supplier, you can import items from your Supplier One catalog.
It may take up to four hours after adding your inventory for your account setup to be complete.
For Walmart-fulfilled items, you’re required to provide additional information, such as country of origin, item dimensions and hazardous materials.
If you sell products that don't have a product ID (e.g., private label or handmade jewelry), you can request a UPC or GTIN exemption to sell these items on Walmart.com. To request an exemption, review Request a GTIN exemption.
