Resumen

If you sell products that don't have a product ID (e.g., private label or handmade jewelry), you may be eligible to receive authorization to sell these items on Walmart.com by submitting a GTIN exemption request. In this guide you’ll learn how to submit a request if needed.

Request a GTIN exemption

Step 1 – Get started

In Seller Center, navigate to Settings and select GTIN Exemptions under Administrator Options. If it’s the first time you’re applying for an exemption, select Get started. If you have existing exemptions, select the Apply for GTIN exemptions button.

Notas

Only sellers with admin level access can request an exemption.

If you enter your store information, you can add up to three item URLs from your store. You can also use a non-Walmart item page from an external website to identify the product.

Step 2 – Choose the category and product type

You can either enter your store information using item URLs (optional), or you can select Next to choose your category, product type, brand and reason for exemption. Select the categories and product types you want. You can select up to 10 categories and 100 product types for each exemption request. Then select Next

Step 3 – Select the brand and reason

Use the dropdown to search for and select the brand. Then use the dropdown to select the reason for your exemption. If none of the reason options apply, you can use the Other choice in the dropdown and add your reason in the text field.

If you don’t find the brand, you can select Add a brand from the Brand dropdown and add the brand or your brand name

If you want to request an exemption for the same brand or reason, select Update brand & reason. Use the search box to search for a brand or add a new brand if the brand isn’t listed. Select the reason, and then select Submit

Step 4 – Submit

Once you’ve submitted your request, it will be reviewed by Walmart. On the GTIN Exemptions page, you can check the status of your request. The request may display one of the following statuses:

  • Approved: After your request is approved, you’ll need to set up your item. You must wait four hours after receiving the approval to set up your item.

  • Processing: Your request is being reviewed by Walmart. Allow up to three business days to receive a response.

  • Needs Info: Walmart needs additional information from you before processing your request. Check your email for more details.

  • Denied: Your request was denied. You cannot appeal the decision, but you can open a new request for the same product.

  • Closed: Your request was reviewed, and it was determined that Walmart needed additional information from you before processing the request. If Walmart doesn't receive a response from you within five days, the request will be closed.

Notas

When you set up your items for exemption, the brand entered must be the exact same name that you use during item setup.
