WFS inbound orders: Use own carrier

Overview

When you ship inventory to a Walmart fulfillment center, you can either use your own carrier or choose a Walmart preferred carrier.

Use your own carrier

If you use a third-party carrier for less-than truckload (LTL) or full truckload (FTL) shipments, you must complete these steps.

Step 1 – Create a pickup request

Schedule a pickup directly with the carrier. You can find all information about your inbound shipment, including the fulfillment center address, on the Shipments page.

Make sure to include the shipment ID in your request. This will vary by carrier, so look for a text field or tab where you can add custom information. The shipment ID will appear on the carrier invoice, making it easier to track the shipment.

Step 2 – Schedule a delivery appointment

For LTL and FTL shipments, carriers need to schedule the delivery at the fulfillment center. They must use Scheduler 2.0 to schedule the appointment and show the confirmation number to the truck gate when they arrive. Carriers can follow the steps in Schedule delivery appointments.

Parcel shipments do not need a delivery appointment.

Step 3 – Print labels

Follow the steps in WFS inbound orders: Labels to download a receiving label from Seller Center. The fulfillment center uses this to verify the shipment and its contents. Stick this label to each master case or pallet.

In addition, the carrier will have their own labels to verify delivery to the correct address. Download these from the carrier website and stick them to your shipment.

Step 4 – Add tracking numbers

Enter tracking numbers in Seller Center to view live updates from the carrier, like current location and estimated delivery. To add tracking numbers, find the shipment on the Shipments page, then select the 3 dots and choose Track shipment.

Manage international imports yourself

If you’re shipping inventory from outside the US, use a freight forwarding company to inbound to a Walmart fulfillment center. WFS does not manage customs clearance or international shipping at this time.

International shipments must follow these guidelines:

  • You are responsible for clearing US Customs.
  • You must meet WFS product requirements.
  • Products must be properly prepared and packed under the WFS Routing Guide.
  • A United States warehouse or fulfillment center is not required. However, per compliance regulations, you must have a US address for returns.
  • Items delivered via container must meet these regulations:
    • Container axle must meet the standard 48” dock height to be accepted.
    • If it’s a drop shipment, you may send floor loads. For live unloads, items must be palletized.
    • If containers are deemed unsafe to unload for any reason, WFS reserves the right to reject the shipment.
Notes

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and ensuring that it complies with all laws, regulations, and licensing requirements regarding the sale, shipping, transportation and delivery of these items. Failure to accurately report information may lead to item removal, account suspension or termination.
