Overview

Once you’ve been approved to list Resold items and agreed to the relevant terms and conditions, the next step is to set up these items in your Marketplace catalog. In this guide, you’ll learn about the process for setting up seller-fulfilled items for the Resold program. If you’re setting up a Walmart-fulfilled (WFS) item, visit here.

Notes:

Participation in the Resold program is by invitation only, and not available to all Marketplace sellers. If you’d like to sell Pre-Owned items through the Resold program, visit the Exclusives programs page in Seller Center to apply.

Item setup

Step 1 – Get started

Before you begin the setup process, make sure your Resold items meet the following requirements:

Attribute

Requirements

Product identifier (ID)

  • Restored: The UPC or GTIN for all restored products in any of the eligible conditions must be different than the original product ID (also referred to as a new equivalent product ID). You’re responsible for providing your own product IDs, a required attribute for item setup.

The product ID and restored ID are both required during a restored item setup and should be the same for both fields. You can also provide the original product ID in the original product ID field during item setup.

  • Pre-Owned: The UPC or GTIN for items in different conditions can be the same as the original product ID (also referred to as a new equivalent product ID). You can use the item’s original product ID. Learn more about  product identifiers.

SKU

SKUs should be unique to items in different conditions. You can't use the same SKU for an item in a different condition.

Model number

If your product has a model number, use a different model number for the restored item than the one used for a new item.

A common way of adjusting the model number is to add RB after the model number (e.g., new item model number: APL_10997 refurbished item model number: APL-10997RB).

Product title

Walmart will add the item’s condition (such as Restored, Pre-Owned, Open Box or Remanufactured) to the beginning of the title. If you change these additions, your offer will be unpublished. For example:

  • "Pre-Owned Primary Clothing Girl's Size 10 Dress"

  • "Open Box Samsung Galaxy S21 5G SM-G991U1 Gray"

Avoid using additional condition-specific keywords in the title.

Condition

Select the item’s condition type based on its level of wear, prior use (if any), appearance and overall quality.

Image requirements

Product images that show the item's condition are required for the following conditions:

  • Remanufactured

  • Pre-Owned: like new

  • Pre-Owned: good

  • Pre-Owned: fair

  • New with defects

Images help set the customer's expectations about the item they will receive. Product images can’t be the same as those used in listings for the same product in new condition and must comply with our image guidelines and requirements.

Warranty

  • Restored:
Restored: premium items must include this text in the Warranty Information field:

“This product comes with a minimum one-year warranty direct from either the manufacturer(s), a manufacturer-authorized or other qualifying seller or supplier. For more detail, visit Walmart Restored."

Your item may be unpublished if you fail to include this text.

If you offer a warranty that’s longer than one year, you can add that to the text. You can also insert a link to your warranty in the Warranty URL field.

  • Pre-Owned:
A warranty isn’t required for Pre-Owned conditions unless otherwise required by law. However, you must accurately disclose to customers the warranty available (if any), or if the product is sold without any warranty.

Pro tip

We suggest using certain IDs for each product type. Email [email protected] for more information.

Step 2 – Choose an item setup method

You can use any item setup method to set up your items in the Resold program. However, there are a few feature limitations for setting up the following resold product types depending on its condition:

  • Auto wipers

  • Car speakers

  • CB radios and scanners

  • Cooktops

  • Hand lawn edgers

  • Humidifiers

  • Intercoms

  • Inverter generators

  • Magazines
  • Modems
  • Pilates machines
  • Pole saws
  • Printing presses
  • Rotary hammers
  • VCRs
  • Wet/dry vacuum cleaners
  • Laptop computers

The table below provides a guideline for setup methods of different Resold condition types:

Method

Description

Express setup

Search results only display the new condition version along with the existing number of offers across all condition types.

  • Pre-Owned conditions: Set up an offer using the original product ID and select the condition value. After they're created, New and Pre-Owned items will share a single item ID and product ID (GTIN, UPC, ISBN). Unique identifiers will now reference the SKU and condition at the offer level.
  • Restored conditions: Set up an offer by searching the Restored item in the correct condition or by using the GTIN on an existing Restored item within the Walmart catalog. You must include the existing product ID value as the Restored product ID value during offer setup.

Full setup

  • The template sections are grouped by their requirement level: Required, Conditional/Required for specific conditions and Optional.
  • Include all product IDs, SKUs and required attributes.
  • Pre-Owned conditions: You may use the new equivalent GTIN as the product IDs (GTIN, UPC, EAN, ISBN) and condition attribute value for item setup. The item setup references both these values to accurately associate your item with its new condition counterpart.
  • Restored conditions: The product ID and Restored ID must be the same value. Add your restored ID into both the product ID and restored product ID fields. You can include the new equivalent product ID in the original product ID field during item setup.
