Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS)
Walmart Seller app
Inventory Transfer Services (ITS) moves your inventory into several buildings nationwide by allowing you to send all your sortable inventory to a single building – called a transfer station – from which we split up and move the inventory nationwide on your behalf. This allows us to always have available inventory of your top-selling items while offering fast customer delivery as our network continues to grow – without putting the burden on you to get it there.
Sellers who use ITS have saved on inbound shipping costs and logistics operations by sending sortable inventory to one location. They’ve also seen improvements in 2-day and next-day shipping coverage.
What to expect
One of the primary benefits of Walmart Fulfillment Services is our 2-day delivery promise. As a result, you may be instructed during the inbound order creation process to send your eligible sortable inventory to multiple designated fulfillment centers. These building locations are determined by the products you’re sending and where you’re sending them from.
Distributing your inventory across our network helps ensure that customers who place orders will receive them quickly. You’ll have the option to distribute the inventory yourself, or you can simplify this process by using Inventory Transfer Services.
How it works
When you’re creating an inbound order in Seller Center, you’ll be prompted to select either Inventory Transfer Services or shipping the items to fulfillment centers on your own. If you opt to use ITS, you’ll then send your sortable inventory to a single transfer station as indicated on the page. If you choose to distribute the inventory across the WFS network yourself, you’ll then send your inventory to the designated fulfillment centers as indicated on the page. This may mean you'll have to break up pallets of these items to send to the fulfillment centers as directed.
A subset of your inbound inventory will be available to sell within 4 days. However, we'll make sure enough of your inventory is allocated to the first fulfillment center so your items remain in stock while inventory is distributed to additional locations across our network. You can check the status of your available to sell inventory on the Inventory page in Seller Center.
Inventory Transfer Service fees
The following table breaks down your per-unit fees for using Inventory Transfer Services, which which apply to inbound orders that have been delivered to transfer stations as of September 14, 2023. While you’re creating your inbound order, you’ll see an estimated total cost of ITS for your shipment.
For units that weigh less than 1 lb., use the unit weight plus packaging to determine your shipping weight and the corresponding per-unit fee. If your unit weight is equal to or over 1 lb., use the unit weight or dimensional weight, whichever is greater. The dimensional weight is equal to the packaged unit volume in inches (length x width x height) divided by 139.
Shipping Weight | ITS Fee Per Unit |
---|---|
1 lb. or under | $0.25 |
1+ to 2 lb. | $0.35 |
2+ lb. | $0.35 + $0.10/lb. > first 2 lb. |
