Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS)
Your business must meet certain requirements, and you must have the necessary legal documents to qualify as a Marketplace seller. In this guide, we’ll cover the requirements and how to get started.
How does it work?
Signing up to become a Walmart Marketplace seller is completely free. You pay a Referral Fee on each item sold. To maintain a high-quality marketplace, there are minimum requirements all sellers need to meet before selling.
1. Walmart Marketplace application requirements
- Copy of a Personal ID
- Business Tax ID(s) or Business License Number (SSN is not accepted)
- Supporting documents that verify your Business Name and Address
- History of Marketplace or eCommerce success
- Products that have GTIN/UPC GS1 Company Prefix Numbers
- Catalog that complies with Walmart's Prohibited Products Policy
- A B2C U.S. warehouse with returns capability and ability to adhere to our Seller Performance Standards, or use Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS)
2. Apply and create your accountÂ
Once you’ve met the requirements above, you’re ready to create your Walmart Marketplace account and complete the onboarding process where you’ll set up your fulfillment settings, payments and more. Â
If you’re running into issues during the onboarding process or if you receive an EIN validation error, check to make sure you’re entering your business details exactly as they appear on your documents. If you have questions, select the Help button in the Seller Center menu bar to contact Support.
3. Explore Marketplace offerings Â
- Register your brand: If you’re a rights owner with registered trademarks, the Walmart Brand Portal can help you simplify your brand management. Within one easy-to-use interface, you can manage your various brands, submit multiple types of intellectual property claims and track claim statuses.
- Ship and fulfill items through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS): When a customer places an order on Walmart.com, we’ll pick, pack and ship the item to the customer on your behalf. WFS also handles all customer support and returns for these orders.
- Explore advertising solutions: With Walmart Marketplace advertising solutions, you can leverage many types of advertising offerings to get your brand and products in front of more customers. You’ll gain access to exclusive ad inventory through Sponsored Search, Onsite Display and Brand Shop and Shelf, which allow you to promote your products on Walmart.com and on the Walmart app. Â
- Expand to international markets: As a global platform, Walmart Marketplace can help you scale your business and achieve global reach. Upon successfully completing setup requirements for the market you wish to sell in, U.S. Marketplace sellers may be eligible to sell their products on the Walmart Canada Marketplace, the Walmart Mexico Marketplace or the Walmart Chile Marketplace.Â
