WFS prohibited products policy: DOT fully regulated hazardous items

Overview

What is the policy?

Any item that is classified as “fully regulated” as Dangerous Goods / Hazardous Materials for transportation by the United States Department of Transportation, and certain refrigerants, either sold along or contained in other products are ineligible for WFS.

Hazardous items include any product or chemical that is a potential risk to public safety or the environment when being transported, moved, or stored in commerce.

Any item that is deemed “fully regulated” by the United States Postal Service (USPS), United Parcel Service (UPS), FedEx or other shipping entities must be shipped in compliance with US shipping laws and regulation, and in accordance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Items subject to this WFS Hazardous Items policy are also subject to the Marketplace Prohibited Products Policy, including Hazardous Items and Recalled Products.

  • Battery-powered generators
  • Any power-generating device with a power output of greater than 300 watt-hours
  • Propane tanks
    • Tanks that are filled  
    • Tanks that do not specify if they are empty or filled  

  • Helium tanks 

    • Tanks that are filled  

    • Tanks that do not specify if they are empty or filled  

  • Matches 

    • Chemical (strike anywhere) matches 

    • Forever matches 

  • Lighters 

    • Lighters / torches containing fuel  

  • Chemical flares 

    • Strikable flares 

    • Roadside kits including chemical flares 

Allowed

  • Power generators 
    • Battery-powered generators with power outputs of 300 watt-hours or below 
  • Propane
    • Empty cylinders
    • Accessories: 
      • Hoses 
      • Gauges 
      • Nozzles 
      • Heaters 
    • Warning signs for propane 
  • Flares 
    • Electric flares 
    • LED flares 
    • Safety kits that include electric flares
