Walmart Preferred Carrier: Prepare for pickup
Last updated on Oct 22, 2024

Overview

When you choose a Walmart preferred carrier, we’ll help you coordinate pickup and delivery of your shipment. In this guide, learn how to print labels, confirm the pickup date and get ready for the carrier.

Pickup for parcel

Preferred carriers do not offer scheduled pickups for parcel. Please schedule a pickup with your local FedEx office online or by phone instead. You can also drop off packages at FedEx.

Pickup for LTL and FTL

For full truckload (FTL) shipments, we'll always schedule the pickup for you.

For less-than truckload (LTL), we'll schedule the pickup if you're assigned FedEx, Central, TForce or AAA Cooper* as your Walmart preferred carrier. When you set up the shipment, you gave a preferred pickup date. This is the earliest date you can expect the carrier to arrive. We’ll work with the carrier to confirm a pickup based on your preferences and operating hours.

Please check your email for a confirmed pickup date. Make sure your shipment is ready on this date to avoid potential delays or fees.

Notes

*If you're assigned a different carrier, please contact the carrier directly to schedule a pickup.

What if I need to reschedule the pickup?

For LTL shipments, you can reschedule directly in Seller Center if your carrier is FedEx, Central, TForce or AAA Cooper. For all other carriers, please contact the carrier to reschedule.

  1. Go to the Shipments page and find the inbound order or shipment.
  2. Select the 3 dots, then the View order option.
  3. In the Carrier pickup section, select Reschedule.

We recommend contacting the carrier as well to make sure they canceled original pickup.

What if I need to reschedule the pickup?

To cancel an LTL pickup, contact the carrier directly. For FTL shipments, please contact the carrier directly to reschedule or cancel.

You can find contact details in the email confirmation, Seller Center or the following table.

What if I don’t get a pickup confirmation?

In rare cases, we may not be able to schedule a pickup for LTL shipments. This may happen if the carrier doesn’t have availability close to your preferred pickup date. You’ll need to contact the carrier directly to reschedule.

To schedule a pickup with a preferred carrier:

  1. Use the following list to contact your assigned carrier.
  2. Share with the carrier that this is part of a Walmart Fulfillment Services shipment, then provide the load ID. You’ll find this number on your bill of lading.
  3. Provide the pickup ID, which is listed in your pickup confirmation email.

Print carrier and receiving labels

Once you have a confirmed pickup date, you’re ready to stage and load the shipment. Make sure to follow the labeling and packing requirements in the WFS Routing Guide. In addition, you’ll need to prep the following.

Depending on the type of shipment, you’ll need to print these labels and stick them to each master case or pallet.

  • Carrier label: Used by the carrier to deliver to the correct address.
  • Receiving label: Used by the fulfillment center to verify the shipment and its contents. Each label has a shipment ID and box/pallet ID.

Here’s how to print labels:

  1. Log into Seller Center and go to Shipments

  2. Find your inbound order or shipment. Select the 3 dots, then choose the Print labels option.

  3. For each shipment, select Print labels to download. For the carrier label, enter the confirmed pickup date.

  4. Print and stick the labels to your cases or pallets.

If you need to print item labels, view WFS inbound orders: Labels for help.

Print bill of lading

For freight shipments, you’ll also need a bill of lading. This is a list of goods that identifies the shipper, carrier and consignee. Give the bill of lading to the driver when they get to your warehouse. When they deliver to the fulfillment center, a Walmart associate will sign the bill of lading.

For LTL, the bill of lading will be ready to download in a few minutes. For FTL, it may take up to 24 hours to generate. We’ll email the bill of lading to you once it’s ready. You can also print it from Seller Center:

  1. Log into Seller Center and go to Shipments
  2. Find your shipment. Select the 3 dots, then choose the Print labels option.
  3. For each shipment, select Print labels.
  4. Download the bill of lading.
