When you create a new Repricer strategy, the default strategy is set to Competitive Price. You can choose this strategy, or you can choose to use one of the other strategies: Buy Box or External Price. If you’re unsure of which strategy to choose, visit Repricer: Overview for more details. In this guide, we’ll show you how to create a Repricer strategy and assign the strategy to your SKUs.
Create a strategy
Step 1 – Get started
Navigate to the Pricing section in Seller Center and choose Repricer. At the top right, select Create Strategy.
Step 2 – Create a strategy
Then, select a strategy type and enter a strategy name. In the Amount section, enter unit information by either dollar amount or percentage, then fill out the Amount to beat by field. Then, select Create.
Step 3 – Assign items
After you’ve created your strategy, you’ll need to assign SKUs to it. Navigate to the Repricer tab. Select Assign Items at the top right. Select Download the Repricer spec file to begin the file download. In the template, you’ll need to add the SKU, choose your recently created strategy and provide your minimum and maximum allowed prices. When you’re ready, upload the template back into the dialog box. Then, select Submit.
If you select a strategy with the Competitive Price or External Price strategy rule, be sure to review your competitive matches. To review competitive matches for your items, use the Repricer sheet and check that competitive matches are filled out and accurate. Ensuring accurate competitive matches is critical for the Repricer to adjust your item prices based on accurate price targets.
Additional guidelines
For Step 2, “Create a Strategy,” you can Reprice back to your last submitted price if no comparable or target offer is found. Select the checkbox that says, "Use your last submitted price if there's no comparable price found.”
For the Buy Box Strategy, select the checkbox that says, “Match the external price when it's lower than the Buy Box price after applying your Beat By amount.” This means that an enrolled item will beat the Buy Box by your specified Beat By amount, or you’ll be matching the external price, if the external price target is lower.
For all strategies, to enable the Repricer to adjust SKUs that are active on a promotional offer, select the checkbox next to “Reprice items on promotion” to make sure the Repricer adjustments won’t remove your strikethrough promotion.
To illustrate the functionality of the Meet external price on the Buy Box strategy, review the chart below. Both scenarios are an example of the Buy Box strategy functioning when the checkbox is checked.
Scenario | Item Price | Buy Box Price | External Price | Adjusted Price | Reason |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
A | 8 | 5 | 10 | 4 | Beat Buy Box price by $1 as Buy Box price is lower than the External price |
B | 8 | 10 | 5 | 5 | Matched with External Price as external price is lower than Buybox Price minus beat by amount |
