Overview

The Walmart Brand Portal offers a simplified process for brand owners to report valid intellectual property infringement claims for items listed on Walmart.com and assign ownership rights and privileges to Marketplace sellers. In this guide, you’ll learn about the Brand Portal eligibility requirements and its features.

Notes

Brand Portal does not accept applications from third party sellers or brand protection agencies. You must be based in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, South Korea or Vietnam.

How does it work?

If you’re a trademark or rights owner fully registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), you can register your brand in the Brand Portal. Once approved, you can submit legitimate claims of copyright, trademark, patent and counterfeit.

You can also assign the acting brand owner or authorized reseller status to a Marketplace seller in Brand portfolio or invite individual users to submit IP claims on their behalf. It typically takes 24 hours for a seller to receive brand portfolio privileges once assigned.

Notes

Your trademark registration must have a seven-digit registration number and be in active status. If your trademark has an eight-digit serial number, it may be pending and not yet eligible for enrollment in the Brand Portal.

Acting brand owners and authorized resellers have the following permissions within Brand Portal:

Role

Permission

Acting brand owner

  • Content ownership rights: Update your brand's item content over any other Marketplace seller, including authorized resellers.
  • Advertising rights: Set up a brand shop.

Authorized resellers

  • Content ownership rights: Update your brand's item content over any other Marketplace seller, aside from the acting brand owner.

 Additional guidelines

Once you’ve registered your brand in the Brand Portal, you can manage your claims, trademark registration, users and view insights. The table below provides more details about navigating the portal.

Section

Description

Claims

View an overview of your IP claim history including your claim status and item level information. Submit a single claim or upload in bulk from My claims on the sidebar.

Trademark registration

Upload additional trademarks that you own. Select Register trademark and provide the brand name as well as trademark registration number. The trademark status changes to Verified once approved.

Users

Invite additional users to submit IP claims on your behalf. You may assign specific brands to each user type with the following permissions:

  • Super admin (account owner): Submit IP claims, invite admins, reporter users and upload new trademarks.
  • Admin: Submit IP claims, invite reporter users and upload new trademarks.
  • Reporter: Submit IP claims.

Analytics

View reports based on unpublished listings and offers. The dashboard displays the number of unpublished listings, non-compliant listings, unpublished rate and content protections. However, it doesn't display item-level data. You can filter reports by date range, category and brand. Below are the definitions for each unpublished type:

  • Risk: the listings and offers may have different risk factors identified in the listing content or seller information.
  • Compliance: The listings and offers may be in violation of Walmart's compliance policies such as the Prohibited Products Policy and other compliance related policies.
  • Business violation: The listings and offers may not adhere to Walmart's business policies such as prohibited categories.
