Last updated on Oct 7, 2026
Reading time: 2 min
Overview

You can use Simplified Shipping Settings to set up shipping rules based on product type, brand, item price and weight. For example, you can create a rule to always use FedEx Overnight to ship laptops priced over $1,000. In this guide, you’ll learn how to manage shipping rules.

Pro tip

Creating a shipping rule is optional. Before you get started, make sure to apply Simplified Shipping Settings to existing items.

Notes:

Simplified Shipping Settings is compatible with free and paid shipping, virtual packs and most domestic USPS, UPS and FedEx services. However, it doesn’t support Ship to Store items, international or freight shipping or third-party logistics services such as Flexport.

Manage shipping rules

Step 1 – Get started

Navigate to the Simplified Shipping Settings page in Seller Center and locate the Shipping rules section.

Step 2 – Create a shipping rule

Select the Add shipping rule button, and provide the condition settings. For example, you can add conditions that specify the product type, brand, price and weight of the items in your shipping rule. When you’re ready, select Continue.

On the next page, name the shipping rule and choose your fulfillment centers and shipping method: rush, expedited, standard, value or freight. Then, select the carrier options for that shipping speed. You can select Add shipping zone to apply a different shipping rate to a specific region. For example, you can choose to apply the FedEx and FedEx 2Day settings only to fulfillment centers in specific states.

Select Continue to review your information and make any final edits. Select Save and Submit  to save the new shipping rule and its settings.

Step 3 – Update shipping rules

To update and manage existing shipping rules, navigate back to the Simplified Shipping Settings page. Locate the Shipping rules section and the shipping rule you wish to update. Manage your shipping rules using any of the methods below.

  • Remove: To delete an existing item group, navigate to the shipping rule and select Delete.
  • Edit: To edit an existing shipping rule, navigate to the rule and select Edit . Then, follow the steps to edit the shipping rule configuration.  Select Save changes to apply the edits.
  • Rearrange priority: You can choose the priority of your shipping rules. The shipping rules with the highest priority (at the top of the list) are applied first. To manage the priority of your item groups, navigate to the Shipping rules  section and select Edit priority . Then, hold and drag the shipping rule to move it to the position you want. Select Update to apply the new priority.
  • Paid Shipping: From the Shipping zones and rates section in your shipping method, select Edit to charge customers for standard shipping and handling or a shipping fee per item or weight and region. Once you've reviewed the total fee including shipping and handling along with the shipping fee per item or weight, select Save changes. Ensure that all information has been provided then choose Save changes. The total includes the standard shipping and handling fee as well as shipping fee per item.
