Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS)
Preorder is an invite-only program that allows you to offer customers the chance to purchase your seller-fulfilled Marketplace items before they’re released to market. In this guide, you’ll learn about the eligibility and participation requirements for this program and how to set up your preorder items if approved.
Participation in the Preorder program is by invitation-only and not available to all Marketplace sellers.
How does it work?
To participate and remain in the Preorder program, you must be in good standing with Seller Performance Standards, and honor the original purchase price that was set by you when the order was first purchased by the customer.
Once approved to join the program, you can list eligible preorder items on Walmart.com up to 12 months before they’re released to market. The item then must be shipped the day of the product’s release. Preorder items are not eligible for lag time exemption.
Additional guidelines
Once you’ve been approved to participate in the program and accept our terms and conditions, you’ll need to set up your preorder items in your Marketplace catalog. During item setup, you must fill out the release date, site start time and date and inventory availability date for the item to be successfully published on Walmart.com.
The order type column helps you distinguish preorder items. This order type column is found on the Orders, Returns and Adjustments dashboards. It can also be found on the bulk upload excel.
You can add "Preorder" to the title format of the listing to let customers know which items are available to be preordered. If you weren’t accepted into the program, and you add "Preorder" or indicate a presale for your items, your item will be unpublished from Walmart.com.
