Overview

Each product identifier in your catalog can be associated with only one SKU. If, for example, you uploaded the same SKU with a different product, you would get an error and vice versa. In this guide, you’ll learn how to update a product ID.

Notes

If you need to change the product ID for a Walmart-fulfilled item, you’ll need to retire the item and set it up again before republishing the item on Walmart.com. Once the product ID is updated, create a case for Seller Support with the information so we can have our fulfillment centers relabel your items.

Update product IDs

Step 1 – Get started

Navigate to the Catalog page in Seller Center, then select Add Items. On the next page, select the Walmart template link located under upload a spreadsheet. When the Walmart templates popup appears, select Create a full-setup template.

Step 2 – Download and complete the template

Select the product categories that best fit the items you want to add, then choose Next. Then, choose up to 20 product types per product category. Once you’ve chosen your product types, choose Next. If you aren't sure which classification to choose, review our Content Standards.

Finally, choose your preferred fulfillment option. When you’re ready, select the Download button in the bottom right corner of the page. If you chose both fulfillment method options, two templates will download.

In the template, fill out the required fields and item attributes including the column labeled product ID update. The product ID update column is located in the optional section of the template, but you must choose Yes from the dropdown menu for the product ID to successfully update.

Step 3 – Upload the template

Navigate back to your Catalog page and select Add items. On the add items screen, upload your template and select Next to submit. Updates can appear as quickly as 15 minutes or can take up to four hours.

I accidentally uploaded the incorrect product ID, what should I do?

What should I do if there is an error in my item's listing because the content has been provided by another seller?

First, check your spec to ensure that you are using the correct product ID for your item. If your product ID is incorrect, follow the steps above to provide the correct product ID. If your product ID is correct, please create a case for Seller Support.

If you suspect their product ID is incorrect, provide the product ID of the item and a way for us to verify that your product ID is correct (e.g., a photo of the packaging that shows the item and its associated UPC).

If the other seller's product ID is correct but some of their information is wrong, please provide us with the product ID, the field that is incorrect (e.g., description, key features, image), why this field is incorrect, what you believe this field should read and a way for us to verify that your information is correct (e.g., scan of instructions, a link to the item on the manufacturer's website with full details).

Seller Support will then take the necessary steps to resolve the issue.
