Request a UPC Exemption

If you sell products that don't have a product ID, you may be eligible to submit a GTIN exemption request. In this lesson, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process to apply for an exemption and explain what to expect after submission. 

***Note: You may still be required to obtain a GTIN or UPC if circumstances with your product change. Walmart reserves the right to revoke any exemptions previously granted.  


Pro tips

When you set up your items for exemption, the brand entered must be the exact same name that you use during item setup.

Add product URLs whenever possible so that Walmart can quickly verify your products.

Respond promptly to any Seller Center notifications for updates or requests for additional information.
