Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS)
To import with Walmart Cross Border (WCB), you must adhere to Walmart’s policies regarding the accurate reporting and documentation of items that may be considered hazardous or dangerous goods. Some items require additional third-party screening, and as a Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) seller, Walmart handles this process for you during WFS item setup. This guide provides information about item eligibility and what you can expect when booking a WCB shipment with potentially hazardous goods.
As outlined in the WMSC Logistics Services, LLC Freight Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) and in the Comprehensive Walmart Marketplace Program Retailer Agreement (“Agreement”), you are obligated to maintain information designated by Walmart as confidential. Please note that this content is considered such confidential information and therefore, may not be shared with any party without express permission by Walmart.

Dangerous goods import eligibility
Goods are separated into three categories:
Dangerous goods (also known as hazardous or hazmat)
These are substances or articles that pose a risk to health, safety, property, or the environment. They are identified by the required shipping paper, declaration, markings, labels or other hazard communication.Excepted dangerous goods
These are dangerous goods that are excepted in the regulations or the amount being shipped is below the threshold to fall into the dangerous good category. Excepted dangerous goods may not require labeling, specification packaging and/or shipping paperwork. Examples of excepted dangerous goods include (but are not limited to):Non-spillable batteries
Refrigerators
Wine refrigerators
Air conditioners
Ionizing smoke detectors
Some lithium batteries (packed with or contained in equipment). More information on US lithium battery regulations here.
General goods (also known as non-dangerous or non-hazardous)
Goods that are non-dangerous (non-hazardous or non-regulated) are not regulated as dangerous goods in transportation. These items don’t require any hazardous materials marks or labels.
Only General goods and Excepted dangerous goods are eligible to be imported by full container load (FCL) with Walmart Cross Border (WCB). Review these guidelines for less than container load shipments (LCL).
Please note that some exceptions are allowed for ground transportation, but not vessel transportation, so the packaging and paperwork must be compliant for both modes of transport, including dangerous goods regulations required by the country of origin. Item eligibility will be confirmed during the item setup process.
If the goods are being transported by domestic vessel or ground in the US, please refer to Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations for what regulations and exceptions apply.

What to expect
About the process
WFS and WCB require additional screening for any product that is or contains a chemical, aerosol, pesticide, battery (lithium or lead acid), or any over-the-counter item that may or may not be intended for human consumption. These items must be submitted to WERCS Professional Services, LLC, a third-party review company, for review prior to an item being set up with Walmart Marketplace.
To do so, you must submit full formulation information for compliance assessments, which ensures that Walmart can properly transport, dispose of, and otherwise manage thousands of products in compliance with federal, state, local and international regulations. This also enables Walmart to support environmental sustainability and product stewardship.
Per the WFS Prohibited Products policy, certain types of items cannot be stored within Walmart fulfillment centers.
Booking shipments in Seller Center
All Walmart Cross Border shipments arrive at Walmart fulfillment centers as their destination, which means your items must adhere to all Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) hazardous materials and prohibited products policies. If you try to add an item considered a dangerous good (e.g. a non-regulated item like certain types of batteries) as part of an import shipment, you’ll be notified if that product is eligible for WFS and importation and whether additional hazardous materials documentation is required. You must provide this documentation for review before the import booking can be confirmed. Some examples of required documentation are Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Hazard Classification, and Identification Report for Transport of Goods.
You’ll be prevented from adding items to your shipment that cannot be transported using ocean freight and/or stored in a WFS facility.
