Overview

There are two ways to create a single item in Seller Center. To set up an item using existing listing information, search Walmart’s catalog. To add a brand-new item that’s not currently offered on Walmart, use the Item Create tool.

Set up item with Walmart's catalog

This option allows you to search Walmart’s catalog and quickly set up a new item using existing listing information.  1. Log into Seller Center and go to Items. 2. Go to the Manage Items dropdown and select Add items. 3. Type in or paste a product identifier to add your item from Walmart's catalog. You can find the Walmart Item ID by viewing the item on Walmart.com and copying the 9-digit number in the listing URL. The Item ID is found at the end of the product name, following the forward slash. E.g., https://www.walmart.com/ip/Beautiful-12-piece-Forged-Kitchen-Knife-Set-in-White-with-Wood-Storage-Block/624750836

You’ll then see search results for the item that matches the product ID you entered. Browse and review the item description — if there’s more than one result, be sure to review the product on Walmart.com to check it’s an exact match.

If the item is part of a variant group, you’ll see the variant attributes listed. Be sure to review the attributes to verify that they match your item. If they’re different, try viewing the item on Walmart.com and selecting the exact variant attribute that matches your product. You can't edit existing item details in this tool. If your variant isn't part of an existing listing, select Add it here to navigate to the Item Create tool and add the new item.
Select More info for additional item details, including brand, category and product identifiers. You can also select View on Walmart.com to see what the item looks like live on the site with all the product details.

Add item details

Product information that’s already in Walmart’s catalog (e.g., product images, brand, etc.) will be added to your item once you submit. You’ll need to enter additional information, including offer details, hazardous materials and trade item configurations.

Offer details include:

  • SKU: The partner-defined alphanumeric identifier a partner uses to identify the item. Walmart includes this value in all communications regarding item information such as orders.

  • Selling Price: The price the customer pays for the product. Do not use commas or currency symbols. Only 2 digits are allowed after the decimal point. Example: 100.33

  • Fulfillment Type: Determines who will be responsible for storing, packing and shipping items, as well as handling returns and customer service.

    • Select Walmart Fulfilled from the drop-down.

  • Shipping Weight (lbs): The weight of the product for shipment, including packaging materials. Only use 3 digits maximum after the decimal point. Example: 5.255

If you’ve selected WFS to fulfill your items, you’ll see more fields populate. This information helps us understand how to handle, store and transport your items. To change the fulfillment type, select Add it here to navigate to the Item Create tool and add the new item. Select the information icon (?) next to each heading to open definitions and fill in details.Make sure your item dimensions are accurate. We measure items during receiving, and mismatched dimensions may affect your WFS fees

Finish or save item setup

Submit your item once you've filled in all required fields. You can also Save draft to complete setup at another time. To save and access drafts, see Item drafts in seller center. **NOTE: You can't change the fulfillment type after you create an item or once you’ve saved the draft. If you need to change the fulfillment type, see Convert an existing item When you're done, you’ll see a confirmation message and an option to copy the feed ID. You can use this to track the setup status in the Activity feed

Set up a brand-new item

This option allows you to set up an item new to Walmart.com or an item with no existing details. You can also use the Item Create tool to convert an existing item in your catalog from seller-fulfilled to Walmart-fulfilled.

1. Log into Seller Center and go to Items.

2. Go to the Manage Items dropdown and select Add items.

3. Under the Walmart catalog option, select Add it here.

4. Choose an ID type from the Item Identifier drop-down and add the number. Press Enter and our system will check if the item has been set up by another seller or supplier. Selecting Yes, this is it will pull up existing item details for the item. You can then edit the offer, including creating your own SKU since it's specific to each seller.

Create your own item content

If you select Not my item, you'll fill in the item information from scratch. More required fields will appear after you select a category and Walmart-fulfilled. (If you aren't sure which category to select, see the Item categorization guide.) In the Item Content tab, fill in the required attributes for your item. On the right, you’ll see an option for viewing Recommended attributes. We recommend filling these out as well to improve your item's discoverability. You'll also see a + Add icon to the right of certain fields. Use this to add more fields for extra details, such as key features.

Imagery and media

The Imagery and Media tab is where you’ll add product photos. Select images if you  have saved images that you want to upload, or import images by URL if you've published the images elsewhere. Your uploaded images will be hosted on Walmart's servers. Make sure that your images follow our Guidelines and requirements for product listing images

Check that the image you want to appear first on the item listing and in search pages is set as the primary image. If it isn't, select Set as primary under the Actions column. If you have more than three images, you can rank the order they appear using the furthest left column Rank. The primary image isn’t ranked and will always appear first.

Offer details

In the Offer tab, fill in the required selling price and sale restrictions along with any additional information you want to provide. If your item has Commercial or Illegal for Sale restrictions, you must list all relevant state codes and zip codes, which can be found as you scroll down the page.

Fulfillment and compliance

Walmart-fulfilled items will have an additional Fulfillment & Compliance tab. WFS requires this information to safely handle, store, and transport your items. See Trade item configurations to understand orderable and sellable GTINs. Some attribute options you select will trigger conditional requirements. It's important to complete all compliance fields accurately before submitting your item. For more detail, see Hazardous materials — what to do and Hazardous materials item setup.

Track setup status

You can see your item setup progress in the Activity feed page. You may need to reload the page before the latest activity appears. If you copied your feed ID, paste it in the search field.

Pro tip

You can find the Walmart Item ID by viewing the item on Walmart.com and copying the 9-digit number in the listing URL. The Item ID is found at the end of the product name, following the forward slash. E.g., https://www.walmart.com/ip/Beautiful-12-piece-Forged-Kitchen-Knife-Set-in-White-with-Wood-Storage-Block/624750836
