Troubleshooting
This guide covers the documents you need before sending shipments to WFS. Ensure you have all of the proper documents ahead of time to save time during the shipping process.
Bill of lading
Sellers must ship using a dedicated freight bill of lading. There should not be more than one bill of lading per location. The bill of lading must contain the following information:Â
- Shipment IDs – If multiple shipment IDs are shipped under one bill of lading, all shipment IDs must be listedÂ
- The full address of the destination (Walmart fulfillment center)
- Freight terms, e.g. "Prepaid"Â
- Seller name and complete ship-from addressÂ
- Delivery dateÂ
- Carrier nameÂ
- Number of casesÂ
If transported by LTL, the bill of lading must include the exact NMFC code of the goods (including subitem number, if applicable), NMFC class, number of cases and weight of each commodity. It is the seller's responsibility to update any changes to the NMFC codes applicable to their products, and sellers will be responsible for all additional shipping charges incurred due to misclassification of items.

For "Said to Contain" only: Walmart's designated carrier will not accept bills of lading marked "Said to Contain. "All bills of lading must have a complete and accurate case count. However, if the carrier cannot count the cases due to the obstruction of the stretch film, or cannot accurately verify the information on the bill of lading, the carrier will sign for the pallet wrapped in the stretch film as the entire bill. The carrier is only responsible for the number of pieces (cases or pallets) signed for. All other shortages will be the responsibility of the seller. The carrier will be instructed to count each case.
If you use a Walmart preferred carrier, we'll generate a bill of lading for you.
Packing listÂ
A packing list is not required. If the shipment has a packing slip, its information must match what is on the truck. The packing slip should be enclosed in a clear plastic envelope and affixed to the outside of the pallet or case where each shipment was last loaded, facing the trailer or container door.Â
Â
If the bill of lading is also a packing list, please make a copy of the bill of lading, put it in a transparent plastic envelope, and stick it on the outside of the last pallet or case. If shipping multiple orders on the same trailer, each order should have a packing slip. You may provide the driver with a copy of the packing slip if they request it. However, the original packing list should remain on the shipment.Â
Â
If a packing list is provided, it shall contain the following information:Â
- Address of Walmart fulfillment centerÂ
- Seller nameÂ
- Shipment IDÂ
- Total number of cases and weightÂ
- Quantity by manufacturer/commodity/style/item numberÂ
- Product descriptionÂ
- Main packing and inner packing quantityÂ
- Delivery dateÂ
