Prohibited Products Policy: Currency, coins and precious metals

Products subject to our policy on Currency, Coins, and Precious Metals must also adhere to other Prohibited Products Policies including our policy on Digital Goods and Walmart Marketplace FinCEN Covered Goods Policy or Walmart will automatically unpublish your item.  

What is the policy?

Currency in any form and coins meant for legal tender are prohibited from sale on Walmart Marketplace. Gold and Silver bullion and other stand-alone precious metals are prohibited from sale unless the seller has been approved to sell these items by Walmart.

  • Real paper currency from any country   
  • Counterfeit currency   

  • Gold/silver bullion   

  • Precious metals that are not incorporated into another product  

  • Collectible, memorabilia, or commemorative coins  

  • Imitation novelty, or replica money  

  • Altered legal tender (including colorizing and plating)   

  • “Unsearched” bags, rolls, tubes, or collections of currency where a buyer cannot clearly identify the specific items they will receive 

  • Counterfeit coins, bank notes, bonds, money orders, securities, stamps, and equipment use to make those items

  • Securities, credit, notes, liens, portions of ongoing business, insurance, noncancelled collectible stock certificates

  • State or federal assistance benefits

  • Prepaid access products that provide access to funds, such as physical or digital gift cards

  • Antique coins and other antiquities

  • Ancient coins 

  • Cultural coins

  • Gold/Silver bullion and precious metals may be sold by approved sellers
  • Currency bands   
  • Currency counting devices   

  • Deposit bags   

  • Coins listed at or above $1,000 must be graded by one of these organizations: Numismatic Grading Corporation (NGC), Paper Money Guarantee  

  • (PMG), or Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), or they will not be allowed.

  • Listings for ungraded coins and currency must not include a numeric grade or estimated value anywhere in the listing and can't show an image of the item in a graded holder.
