A credit card chargeback, also known as a charge dispute or credit card reversal, occurs after a customer makes a purchase on Walmart.com and disputes the charges with their financial institution. Typically, customers will dispute the charge because they don’t recognize the charge on their statement, their card was stolen, they didn’t receive the product or the product or service was defective or damaged. Keep reading to learn more about the Walmart Marketplace policy on credit card chargebacks.
What is the policy?
Per the Walmart Marketplace Retailer Agreement, you’re responsible for all credit card chargebacks except for chargebacks that are a result of credit card fraud, for which Walmart is responsible.
Walmart collects all the required and supporting information for customer chargeback claims received from credit card companies. A chargeback claim can take up to 90 days to appear on your statement from the date the charge was disputed with the customer’s financial institution. Some disputes can take longer. Many claims are based on the credit card companies, not Walmart. Therefore, there is no recourse to appeal the decision.
Credit card chargebacks that you’re responsible for are offset against amounts owed to you.
