If you ship items using freight, sell luxury items or offer items that can’t be returned in a single box, you may be eligible to request exemptions to the standard Marketplace returns process. This means the customer will contact you directly to initiate the return for these specific items. In this guide, we’ll show you how to request a return policy exemption.

Return policy exemptions are discretionary. Walmart reserves the right to modify or cancel any return exemptions granted in its sole discretion.Â
Request a return policy exemptionÂ
Step 1 — Fill out the request templateÂ
Download a Return Exemption Request Template excel file and fill out the cells for the SKUs you want to make exempt from the standard returns process. Exemption requests are limited to 250 SKUs per request. If you have greater than 250 SKUs, you'll need to submit multiple requests.
Step 2 — Contact support
To submit your request, select the Help button in the Seller Center menu bar to contact Support. Describe your issue as: Request Return Exemption and choose Next. Confirm the issue category by selecting Return exemptions. Then choose the Get in touch with us link.
Step 3 – Fill out the form
Choose the email option and then follow the instructions to upload your exemption request for Walmart’s consideration.
