Overview

In this guide, you’ll learn some best practices to optimize your product detail page on Walmart.com.

How does it work?

Your product’s title, description, key features, images and additional attributes help determine how your items appear in search and browse results on Walmart.com. The table below lists suggestions for accurately filling out the product title, description, key features and imagery for your product detail page. 

Notes

Your item content must follow the Prohibited Products Policy and all other Walmart policies. You may refer to our Content Standards for additional guidance.

  • Write brief titles not exceeding 100 characters.  
  • Create clear, descriptive titles without repetitive keywords, multiple brands or product types.  

  • Include relevant values that exclude phrases like “Coming soon” or “Out-of-stock.”  

  • Write in all caps or use special characters (e.g. ‘~’, ‘!’, ‘*’, ‘$’). 
  • Make promotional claims (e.g.: “Free shipping,” “Hot sale,” “Top rated,” “Premium quality,” “Best-selling,” “Clearance,” “Black Friday,” “Savings,” “Low price”). 

  • Make claims of competitor exclusivity (e.g.: “Amazon Exclusive” or “Exclusive to Target.com,” etc.). 

  • Incorporate any URLs in any format, including Walmart.com.  

  • Use external URLs.

  • Describe the item’s features and benefits, including the Product Name, Brand and keywords.  
  • Include related words that customers are likely to search for. 
  • Create one paragraph with a minimum of 150 words. Word count requirements vary by product category.  
  • Make claims of competitor exclusivity (e.g.: “Amazon Exclusive" or “Exclusive to Target.com," etc.).  
  • Make claims of competitor exclusivity (e.g.: “Amazon Exclusive" or “Exclusive to Target.com," etc.).  
  • Make any promotional claims (e.g.: “Free shipping,” “Hot sale," “Top rated," "Premium quality," “Best-selling,” “Clearance," “Black Friday," “Savings," “Low price"). 
  • Include irrelevant values (e.g.: “Coming soon” and “Out-of-stock"). 
  • Make any authenticity claims. Any items with product details that include authenticity claims will be unpublished from Walmart.com unless you’ve obtained Walmart’s express prior approval for the claim or if the item is a food product. (e.g.: “Authentic Louis Vuitton Neverfull," “Lego Assorted Minifigures Authentic," or “100% Authenticated Leather," etc.). 
  • Use external URLs.

  • List the most important features first, including three to 10 of the most important benefits and features of your item.  
  • Use short phrases or keywords. 

  • Use more than 80 characters (space included) per key feature.  
  • Make any promotional claims (e.g.: “Free shipping,” “Hot sale,” “Top rated,” “Premium quality,” “Best-selling,” “Clearance,” “Black Friday,” “Savings” or “Low price.”  

  • State irrelevant values (e.g. “Coming soon,” “Out-of-stock"). 

  • Use external URLs.
