In his guide, learn about Walmart Marketplace Canada policies for Hazardous and Regulated Products, Pesticides and Pesticide Devices, and Refrigerant/Ozone Depleting Substances.
Hazardous and Regulated Products
What is the Policy?
Any products that do not adhere to federal, provincial, and local government regulations are prohibited from sale on Walmart Marketplace Canada. Hazardous products are items that can be risky to store, handle, or move around. This is because they contain things that could be flammable (catch fire easily), pressurized (could explode), corrosive (can cause damage by wearing away other materials), or harmful in other ways. Items must be shipped in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations requirements and applicable laws. In addition, any product that Walmart Canada, in its discretion, deems unsafe or hazardous is also prohibited. Please refer to this page for information regarding Pesticides & Pesticide Devices.

The following classes of hazardous materials or substances are considered dangerous and may be prohibited from our site. Some dangerous goods are not required to have labels or warnings; however, they are still classified as dangerous goods. The chart below is for informational use only.

Refrigerant and Ozone-Depleting Substances
What is the Policy?
Some refrigerants can pose a significant health risk and negatively impact the environment including the earth’s ozone layer. Walmart Canada prohibits from sale refrigerants that the Canadian Environmental Protection Act classifies as a Class I or Class II ODS or do not comply with other federal, provincial, or local regulations.
Class I substances, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and halons, have a higher ozone depletion potential and have been phased out in Canada; with a few exceptions, this means no one can produce or import class I substances. Class II substances are all hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which are transitional substitutes for many Class I substances. New production and import of most HCFCs were phased out as of 2020. The most common HCFC in use today is HCFC-22 or R-22, a refrigerant still used in existing air conditioners and refrigeration equipment.
