Prohibited Products Policy: Cosmetic Products

Overview

In this guide, learn about Walmart Marketplace Canada policies related to Cosmetic Products. 

What is the Policy? 

Cosmetic products and tools that require a prescription are prohibited from sale on Walmart Marketplace Canada. Any products designed for professional use only, or that are generally unsafe for the average consumer, are also prohibited.

Allowed 

  • Any cosmetic products or tools that require a prescription  
  •  Any products that require a medical professional's supervision or direction 

  • Cosmetics containing prohibited or restricted substances, ingredients, and/or drugs  

  • Adulterated or tampered cosmetics  

  • Unsafe cosmetics (e.g. skin bleaching products)  

  • Cosmetics not packaged, labeled, or intended for retail sale in the Canada (e.g. cosmetic testers, imported cosmetics that do not comply with Canadian law)  

  • Cosmetics not in original retail packaging, that are opened or used

  • Cosmetic samples, and other products not intended for retail sale are prohibited. Full sized products that are packaged with related, properly packaged and labeled, samples are allowed.  
  • Certain accessories for cosmetic products and tools that can be used for both prescription/professional products and at home products that the general accessories themselves do not require prescriptions or usage by a professional are allowed. (e.g. Bottles, applicators, device cleaners)  

  • Cosmetics that are drugs or medical devices must also adhere to our Drugs & Medical Devices policies. (e.g. sunscreen, dandruff shampoo, medicated lip balm, antiperspirant, teeth whitening devices, etc.) 

  • Cosmetics and tools that are salon/professional quality but intended for both salon and home use.
