Make Item Updates
Last updated on Nov 1, 2024

Overview

The single item edit capability enables sellers to make item content updates quickly. In most cases, if you notice that your item's content could be improved or did not pass the system validation because of errors, you may edit a single item. You can also edit your item content in bulk by changing and uploading your Item Spec files.

Points to consider when updating items:

  • If you make any updates using the editing interface in Seller Center, your Full Item Spec files may become outdated. Uploading an Item Spec later will overwrite any updates you have made directly in Seller Center.
  • We recommend making bulk updates using the Item Maintenance Spec. This allows you to make very specific updates without providing as much information as required in the Full Item Spec. Learn more about the Item Maintenance Spec.
  • If you do not see your update immediately, please wait for your feed to process (up to 4 hours) and check again before opening a Partner Support case . It is your responsibility to verify your item content updates.

  Single Item Edit

  1. On the Catalog page, click on the Product Name and select Edit Item when you click on the item.

Edit Item Content

If you are performing an edit that doesn't have a data error, navigate to the tab with the attribute you want to correct and begin with step 3 below. If you want to correct an error that has prevented your item from being published, follow the steps below:

  1. Find the tab with a numbered red icon instead of a green checkmark. This tab will contain the attribute(s) that need to be fixed.

2. When you open this tab, search for the attribute box outlined in red, and you can address the issue described in the message below the attribute box.

3. Correct the attribute. When the attribute is filled in correctly, Seller Center removes the red outline around the text box and the issue description.

4. Correct all errors found in any attribute. This is required to submit the item.

5. Click Submit to republish the item.

Pro tip

Item updates may encounter a slight delay. Due to content ranking, some content changes may not appear on the Item dashboard.

Multiple Items Edit

You can still use the Bulk Item Upload Excel feature. This functionality is ideal for updating 5-25 items, especially variant items.

Before you start:

  • This feature is unavailable for
  • The functionality of this feature is similar to that of the Maintenance API, so no separate API is needed.

 Steps:

  1. On the  Items dashboard, use the check box to select multiple items that needs to be updated.
  2. Click on Edit Items to make the changes.

3. Make the necessary updates directly into the available columns.

4. Click on Submit to process the changes you’ve made.

Additional Guidance

This section provides some general guidelines for filling out the Single Item Edit tabs in Seller Center.

Item Content

  • The Item Content section displays the product information for that particular item and reflects the current information on Walmart.ca. Another user with a higher content rank may have provided this content. If you submit an update to an attribute for which you are not the highest-ranked user, the update will not take effect on the Item Page or in this interface.
  • Since this covers all item information, some content is required, and others are optional and labelled accordingly.
  • All required fields must be completed for changes to be accepted. If a required field is left blank, a character limit is exceeded, or incorrect formatting is entered, the changes will not be saved, and you will see an error message.
  • An item cannot be submitted until all required attributes are entered for all sections on each tab.

Pro tip

Your content edits may not be approved and are at the discretion of Walmart.ca.

Imagery and Media

  • All items must have at least two images saved.
  • Items with multiple images require you to select a Primary Image.
  • The Primary Image is consistently ranked first.
  • Each additional image will have a link to Set as Primary. Clicking on this link sets the new image as a Primary Image and shifts it to the top of the image grid.
  • Each additional image has a link to Mark as deleted. Clicking on this link removes the image from the catalogue for that item.

Pro tip

Your content edits may not be approved, and are at the discretion of Walmart.ca

Offer

  • All items must have an offer tab, where information like Price, Shipping Weight, Tax Code, and Dates are stored.
  • Only Price, Weight, and Tax Code are required.
