Overview

The Walmart Marketplace Canada team strives to preserve a secure and fair program of products and services for Walmart customers and sellers.  Failure to comply with the below policies and guidelines can result in the suspension or termination of selling privileges on Walmart.ca.

Walmart Marketplace Canada Guidelines:

  • Respect all Walmart employees who provide support and Walmart customers who purchase from you.
  • Always provide accurate and current account information.
  • Represent your business honestly.

Pro tip

The requirements of this Policy are an addition to the Walmart Marketplace Seller agreement and any other policy obligations, without limitations.

Seller Performance Standards

Sellers are held to standards and agreements related to ongoing performance.  Sellers who do not meet the standards will be given opportunities to course correct their performance, but repeated failures could lead to account suspension or termination.  Some examples are listed here:

  • Sellers must maintain an Order Defect Rate (ODR) at or below 15.5%.  ODR is based on cancellation rate, on-time shipment rate and return rate.
  • Sellers are bound by agreements related to customer service standards and pricing policy.

Trust and Safety Standards

Walmart Canada Marketplace regularly reviews Seller adherence to compliance standards, such as prohibited products, counterfeit, fraud and trademark issues.  A detailed view into the Trust and Safety performance standards that can lead to suspension or termination can be found here.

Multiple Seller Accounts

Conducting and operating multiple Walmart Marketplace seller accounts is prohibited without prior approval from your Key Account Manager.
If your Walmart Marketplace seller account is terminated, you are prohibited from opening a new account.

Actions that Divert Walmart.ca Customers or Transactions

Any attempt to circumvent any Walmart policy related to sales or to divert Walmart customers to another website is prohibited. Attempts to use advertisements, emails of promotional offers, and/or calls-to-action that would motivate Walmart customers to visit and purchase from a website other than Walmart.ca are prohibited. Also prohibited is the inclusion of hyperlinks, URLs, or website titles in item listing content, description fields, and any seller email messages.

Prohibited Seller Display Names

Your Walmart Marketplace seller display name (business name) must:

  • Accurately identify you as the seller
  • Not be deceptive or misleading
  • Not include an email address or domain extension, such as .com, .net, .biz
  • Not include any Walmart trademarked names

You must have a license and all required authority to use your display name.

Prohibited and Inappropriate Email and Phone Communications

Email or telephone communications to customers other than those related to fulfillment or customer service are prohibited.  Unsolicited emails or telephone calls, including for marketing communications, are strictly prohibited.

Brand Name Representation

Brand names you provide for your Walmart Marketplace listings must be accurate and represented honestly and not modified at any time. Misrepresentation of brand names to bypass any Walmart policies and rules is strictly prohibited.

Post-Transaction Price Changes or Exorbitant Shipping Costs

All attempts to increase the sale price of a purchased item after a Walmart order has been completed are strictly prohibited.

Immediate Termination

Any sellers knowingly selling counterfeit goods or committing fraud will have their accounts terminated immediately from the Walmart Canada Marketplace.

About Walmart Canada

Walmart Canada helps Canadians save money and live better. Quality products at everyday low prices - that's the promise Sam Walton made when he started Walmart and it's as true today more than 50 years later. We believe in innovation and continue to grow by adding new services like pickup, online grocery, and mobile app shopping. Walmart.ca is visited by more than 1.5 million Canadians daily, who can choose from millions of items sold by Walmart and third-party sellers to fit their needs. We make sure their service experience is as amazing as it is in our stores around the world.
