Promotional pricing allows you to offer customers great deals on your items. In this guide, you'll learn how to use the Price and Promotion Template to add or remove Promotional Pricing in Seller Center. Promotional Pricing can also be updated using the Promo API or Price API for API-based sellers.
How to fill out the Price and Promo Template
- Go to the Catalog option in the left navigation pane in Seller Center.
- Click Update Items and choose Update with file.

3. Click on the Promotion Price Update file to download.

4. Fill out the template with all required fields.
Price fields: Use the two price field attributes to update everyday prices. Do not use these fields to create or update promotional pricing as prices will be overwritten by any subsequent item feeds you submit. Both fields are required: - SKU: The SKU you provided for the item during Item Setup.
- Price: The new everyday price for that item.
- Note: If you set up a promotion, this price may display as the "was" price.
Optional Promotion fields : Use the Promotion fields to create a promotional price for an existing item. See the instructions in the Spec for more information on these fields. - Promotions Status: Required for Promos
- Promo Price: Required for Promos
Promo Start Date: Required for Promos - A promotion must be set at least 4 hours before you want the promo to begin. As a reminder, the start and end times of your promotions are in Universal Time Zone (UTC) and not in your local time zone. Review the Promotion Rules article for more details.
- For urgent submissions, you must use a start time that is 15 minutes ahead of the 4 (standard time) or 5 (daylight savings time) hour UTC time for the promo to go active as a soon as possible.
- Promo End Date: Required for Promos
Promo Type: This field generates a badge to indicate whether the promotion type is " Reduced Price" or "Clearance" (Clear out deal) It is mandatory to provide the Promo Type value to get strikethrough pricing on the Walmart site. - Please note – Your items intended to be under Clearance will now have a badge on Walmart.ca as “Clear out deal”. However, you will still be required to submit Clear out deals under “Clearance” in the Price and Promo template until further notice.
- Flash Deals badges are secured when items are displayed with promotional pricing that has a duration of 24 hours or less. The Flash Deal badge shown on Walmart.ca will be “Ending Soon”.
Promo Placement: Do not use. This feature is not currently used by Walmart Canada and will generate a feed error. - Note: If you set up a promotion, you must select Active for the Promotions Status on every item you want to update.
- Promotion 2 - Promotion 5: You can create up to five promotions at a time by filling out the additional promotion columns. Make sure that your promotion dates don't overlap.

5. Go to the Walmart Toolbar and click Validate Fields.

6. Next, upload the excel by choosing the type of update you’re doing.

7. Go the Activity Feed located under the Catalog option in the left navigation pane in Seller Center to validate your submissions.
Additional Information
- There are additional rules governing promotions, described in the article
- Setting Promotions Status to Delete All will wipe all the promotions you've created.
- To change promotions, set Promotions Status to Active and upload a Spec with the changes. Every time you upload a Price and Promo Spec, it will wipe and replace the previous promotions associated with the SKU provided. You are responsible for keeping track of the promotions you have set.
API
- For information on creating promotions through the API, see
- For information on changing price through the API, see the Price API or Bulk Prices API
In the APIs, the comparison Price is the original (or list) price that will be included on the Item Page for comparison (to calculate savings), as seen in the Promo Type screenshots in Promotion Rules.
