The article gives an overview for Sellers on how to Select the Best Category for your Items and add Addional Device.

How to select the best categories

  1. Download the Categorization Guide attached at the bottom of this article.
  2. For each item, identify the category that best applies.
  3. Within this category, find the best subcategory that applies to your item.
  4. Once you have selected the category, download and complete the setup templates.

Additional advice

  1. The 24 categories described here are not identical to the referral fee categories found in the Marketplace Retail Agreement.
  2. Below are a few common mistakes sellers make when choosing categories:

Follow the Categorization Guide to resolve these ambiguities and select the right category for your items.

3. Selecting the right category helps you quickly provide the most relevant attributes for your item. Walmart's systems run other checks to verify what your item is, and use that information to put your item in the appropriate place on Walmart.ca. If you do end up selecting a category that is not the best, it may cause your item to sell less (due to non-optimal discoverability attributes) but it will not affect your item's shelf or cat path. See Using SEO Best Practices In Your Item Descriptions for more details.
