You need to determine and select a tax code for your item(s) from the list provided in the article Current Sales Tax Codes for Walmart Marketplace . You will need to be logged in to Seller Center to see this article. Shipping fees are separate line items and also require a tax code, found at Shipping Sales Tax Codes. We recommend contacting a tax advisor if you are unsure of the taxability of your item(s).
Note: The following video link is a US instructional video that may assist you in your tax code selection: VIDEO LINK: How to Find the Right Tax Codes. You will observe two differences between the US and Canadian Marketplace relating to tax code listings: (1) the location of the tax code files for Canada is different and can be located in the Current Sales Tax Codes for Walmart Marketplace article (Please note, you must be logged in with your seller credentials to view this article) (2) Various Tax Code listings: General Taxware Tax Code listing, Custom Codes without Environmental Levies Chart, list of tax codes specifically related to environmental fees with descriptions and fee amounts applicable.[CR1]
Important: If you have not properly defined the tax code during product setup, the system will not process orders, resulting in customer order cancellation. Please ensure you refer to the Tax Code Setup in the Tax Settings tab to complete this step.
Canada has specific regulations governing the obligation to collect and remit sales taxes on orders placed on Marketplace platforms such as Walmart.ca. In general, the regulations use factors such as seller’s tax registration status, the ship from, and the jurisdiction to determine the obligation of the respective sales tax for the orders placed through Marketplace. Depending on these factors, the regulation imposes the obligation to collect and remit taxes on either the seller or Walmart as the Marketplace platform operator. As the seller, it is your responsibility to confirm the tax obligations for each of the jurisdictions in Canada.
As the seller, it is your responsibility to confirm the tax obligations for each of the jurisdictions in Canada.
A tax jurisdiction means a political subdivision, such as a province, county, city or special district, with the legal authority to levy a tax. In Canada, sales tax are only levied at the federal and provincial levels.
Please consult your tax advisor or work with the tax jurisdictions. Walmart does not provide tax advice to sellers.
A seller will register, as required by applicable law, for any Canadian Federal or Provincial sales, goods and services, value added and other similar taxes ("Sales Tax"). As the seller, you are required to provide your Sales Tax registration information in Configuring Sales Tax Collection in Walmart’s Seller Center.
For each item you list on Walmart.CA, it is your obligation to assign the appropriate tax code. See Current Sales Tax Codes for Walmart Marketplace for more information. Please note that you must be logged in using your Seller Center credentials to see this article.
Walmart.ca uses your tax registration information, provided by you on your seller profile, and the item sales tax codes, that you have assigned, to determine the seller’s tax obligation per order. See below as to how Sales Tax is calculated. As the seller, it is your responsibility to understand and verify your tax obligation.
Walmart uses a tax software called Taxware to calculate Sales Taxes on the order. Taxware will apply the Sales Tax rate based on the tax code that the seller has assigned to their products and the tax jurisdictions applicable on the sales order. Your tax registration and tax code applied to your product will determine the rate and tax applicable. For more information, please refer to the following articles: Configuring Sales Tax Collection, Shipping Sales Tax Codes, Current Sales Tax Codes for Walmart Marketplace.
You do not need to enter tax rates. Taxware contains all of the tax rates levied by tax jurisdictions in Canada. Taxware will apply the Sales Tax rate based on the tax code applied to your product and the tax jurisdictions you have indicated.
Taxware monitors tax law and the system is maintained with monthly content updates based on the effective date of tax law changes. However, it is your responsibility as the seller to ensure that the tax status and tax rates with respect to your item(s) are taxed appropriately.
Unfortunately, at this time, Walmart.ca does not have the ability to process the following tax exemptions online: Status Indian, Farmer's, Fishermen, Resale, Government, Adult Clothing for age specific exemptions.

Commission percentages are based on the category template you have chosen to upload, so it is important that you choose the right category and template to upload your items.
Please create a case for Partner Support if you notice any discrepancy with the commission even if you have chosen the right templates.
Commissions can be found in the Payment Details report.
Your payment frequency is determined by your agreement with Walmart. If you have forgotten your payment frequency, you should check either your Walmart Canada Marketplace Retailer Agreement or the dates on your previous Payment History Reports to see the payment cycle. In Seller Center, from the left navigation bar under the INSIGHTS & ANALYTICS section, click on Summary Reports and go to the PAYMENT HISTORY tab to access your Payment History Report. If PAYMENT HISTORY does not appear on the far right, try widening your browser window. For more information, refer to the Payments Statements and Transactions article.
Walmart will remit to you the amount it collects from the sale of your items, less the commission, for items shipped in each payment period on the 7th day of the end of each period. Each period ends at midnight (PST) on an alternate Friday, and payments for the just-finished period are typically deposited into your bank account between 7 to 8 business days. Funds are credited the same day if you have opted to receive your payments to your Payoneer account.
The deposited amount can be reconciled against your orders by using the Payment Details report for that pay period. Walmart generates Payment History reports (including Payment Details and Payment Summary) on the 8th day of every settlement end date. Note that orders are included in a pay period based on the order ship date, not the order creation date. To view the Payment Details report in Seller Center, under the INSIGHTS & ANALYTICS section of the left navigation bar, click on Summary Reports. Then, select the PAYMENT HISTORY tab. For more information, refer to the Payment History Report article.
If you are registered with Payoneer and received payment, but need clarification with respect to reconciliation, please log a Support case for assistance.
If you are registered with Payoneer and have not received payment, validate your respective Payment Summary and Details reports and calculate the sum of all records in the "PAYABLE_TO_PARTNER" column for the respective pay period "SELLER_INVOICE_DISPOSITION_DATE".
A negative sum means that a chargeback exists and there is no current payment to issue. The chargeback will carry forward to the next pay period.
A positive sum means that payment is owing from Walmart. After prior period chargebacks are deducted, the remaining settlement will be paid. In the event that you show a positive payment amount but remain unpaid, please reach out to Payoneer customer support as instructed below:
Online: Navigate to the Payoneer Support Center and sign in with your Payoneer credentials
