Pesticide items must be tested and reviewed before they can be sold through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). Sellers are responsible for requesting and paying for the required testing. In this guide, learn about the testing process and what documentation to prepare.
When lab testing or review is required
UL Solutions provides two services:
- New lab test for a pesticide item that does not have a current or valid lab test.
- Test review for an existing production test from another lab. UL Solutions will check that the results meet our standards.
A lab test or test review is required for all pesticide items. You cannot list an item as Walmart-fulfilled until it’s been approved through the WFS pesticide process.
Federal and state restricted-use pesticides (RUP) are not allowed for sale. These are generally items that can only be purchased and used by certified pesticide applicators.
Lab test process
Step 1 – Contact UL Solutions
Contact UL Solutions to determine testing or review requirements, submission process, timing and fees. Email them at ROG.Hardlines.Customer.Service@crs.ul.com or call (479) 636-8782.
Step 2 – Prepare required materials
Gather clear, legible images or artwork of all sides of the item packaging. Include supplemental labeling contained within the packaging as applicable. All text must be readable. See Submission requirements by pesticide type for more details.
Step 3 – Complete new testing or submit existing test
Each item requires a test or review. For a new test, submit required materials to UL Solutions. Reach out to UL for help accessing their portal and submitting information.
If you’re an existing in-store supplier and have a current production test approved within the last year from a Walmart-approved lab, you may submit the report to UL Solutions for review. Include current state registration documentation as part of the review process.
Step 4 – Get approval
Once all documentation is provided to UL Solutions, they’ll email you results within 5 business days. You can also see copies of tests and current status within the UL Solutions portal.
Step 5 – Set up item
Once UL Solutions approves your item, you can add it to your Seller Center catalog. Make sure to identify it as a pesticide and choose the right pesticide type. Go to WFS pesticides: Set up items for guidance.
The pesticide type in Seller Center must match the pesticide type listed in the approved UL Solutions lab test. Items with mismatched pesticide types cannot be set up.
Step 6 – Maintain compliance
Keep state registrations current with UL Solutions by submitting state registration certificates as the status changes.

State registration requirements
When you request a lab test from UL Solutions, you must provide proof of state registration when required by the state.
- For EPA-registered pesticides, you must provide state registration for any state in which the item will be sold or distributed.
- For minimum-risk 25(b) pesticides and pesticide devices, only some states require state registration prior to sales or distribution.
- Treated articles do not require any state registrations.
For EPA-registered items, state registration data for participating states is automatically populated into the UL Solutions portal using data from ALSTAR and Kelly Registration Systems. In these instances, you’re not required to submit state certificates, but you should verify the information that appears.
Failure to provide required registration documentation to UL Solutions may result in state-level sales restrictions. When registrations expire, you must provide renewal documentation to UL Solutions for a small fee.
