Understanding your revenue and costs is a critical factor when making decisions about your WFS inventory. In this guide, you’ll learn how to use the estimated item revenue calculator available on the Inventory page in Seller Center.Â
How to use the calculator
Step 1 – Choose your WFS itemÂ
To get started, go to the Inventory page in Seller Center. Your WFS items will appear on the page. From there, identify which item you want to calculate estimated revenue for.
Step 2 – Open the calculatorÂ
Under Manage item at the end of the item row, select the calculator icon to open the estimated item revenue calculator. From there, the side panel will open, displaying the following information:Â
- Item price – the current price of your WFS item.
- Base referral fee - the standard Walmart Marketplace commission charged on each item before any incentives or promotions are applied.
- Incentive discount (if applicable) - the estimated reduction to the base referral fee when an item is enrolled in any incentive, funding, or promotional program.
- Standard WFS fees – this includes the WFS fulfillment fee and monthly storage fee, which is the monthly cost of storing your goods in a WFS facility.
- WFS Prep Services – the cost of the value-added services WFS offers that you can take advantage of, including poly bagging and item labeling.
- WFS fees discount (if applicable)Â - the estimated discount on WFS fulfillment fees based on factors such as WFS penetration, Days on Hand, and active promotions. Eligibility and rates may vary.
- Total fees per unit – the total fees WFS is charging you per unit of this item.
- Estimated unit sales – how many units of this item you’re selling. This will show a quantity of 1 by default.
- Estimated net revenue – your estimated revenue for this item after deducting Walmart fees, shipping, and other applicable fees.
- Total other costs - includes your direct product costs, such as manufacturing, wholesale fees, inbound freight or any other costs you may incur for the item.
- Estimated net profit – your estimated profit after deducting your costs, Walmart fees, shipping, and other applicable expenses from your total revenue.
- Estimated net margin – the percentage of revenue remaining after deducting product costs, Walmart fees, shipping, and other expenses.
Step 3 – Modify as needed before calculatingÂ
To generate your estimated revenue for this item:Â
- Enter the current price of your item.
- Check any value-added services you’re using for this item.
- Enter the unit sales you want factored into the estimated revenue.
- Enter the total quantity of your other costs.*
- Select Estimate.
Keep in mind that Walmart doesn’t save any cost-related data that you enter into this calculator. We use your inputs only to generate your estimate and do not save them to your account or our systems. Inputting your total quantity costs allows you to get as accurate of an estimate as possible, factoring in all costs associated with your item.Â
Based on your calculations, you may want to update the current price of your item. To do so, enter the new item price into the appropriate field, then select Update live listing price. This update may take up to an hour to complete.Â
