- High quality imagery increases conversion and decreases the likelihood of negative reviews or returns.
Having the optimal image count & order of images on your PDP improves SEO rankings and drives customers to your product pages. Images that do not meet specifications may appear distorted and may not be published to the site.
Your images will account for 15% of your total Content Quality Score
Content Requirements

Image URL requirements
Supported URLs
Image URLs must end in an image file type (such as .jpg) and link to a public image file that loads as an image, NOT as an HTML page. Use caution, as some links that end in a valid image file type load as an HTML page – as in the unsupported example below.
DROPBOX URL- Dropbox URLs are supported only if you provide the URL that loads as an image. Click to learn more about using Dropbox Images
Most Amazon image URLs can be accepted if they meet the guidelines on this page.
Scene 7 URLs are also supported as long as they meet guidelines on this page.
Unsupported URLs
Photobucket URLs are never supported because they load as HTML pages even when the URL ends in a valid file type.
- URLs that aren't publicly accessible.
- URLs that are HTML pages.
- URLs containing a query.
- URLs with a port of communication other than 8080, 80, 443 or 8443.
- URLs paths with special characters and aren't coded.
Image Types- Parent
There are 4 main image parent types for your PDP
Silo: Product shot on a seamless white background (R:255, G:255, B:255) where product does not touch the edge of the frame, leaving a 2.5% white border.
Be consistent with main image angles. If you have multiple items within a product type, shoot them at the same angle.
Silo images may be in-pack, out-of-pack, composites, sets and include side views, back, angles, etc.
Silo images can include models, props, or display the product in use.
2. Lifestyle: Product featured in a professionally styled environment or surface with creative lighting.
The environment or surface should always be deliberate and appropriate to the product. Emphasis on the product itself and should reference the packaging if applicable (mostly for food items.)
May be executed with or without models.
Image should be cropped “full bleed” to a square and fill the frame touching all edges (no borders).
3. Graphics: Can be a silo image or lifestyle image that uses any combination of graphics, icons, imagery and/or text to further explain information about the product.
These can include, but are not limited to: feature callouts, silo with dimensions, scale avatar, etc.
Image should have information or symbols which are intended to be read (except for the copy on the actual product packaging).
4. Detail: Imagery that displays a portion or close-up of the product, concentrating on a specific feature or attribute of the item.
Close-ups or other information whose intent is to have the words read by the viewer should be classified as Graphics.
These can include a fabric or finish swatch detail, to help highlight color, pattern or texture - bed sheets, indoor/outdoor furniture, replacement cushion, curtains, towels, etc.
They can also include a hardware detail, to help highlight specific product specs - such as tools, furniture hardware, electronics buttons or ports, etc.
These can include a close-up swatch of a beauty or health product, to help highlight color, texture and/or consistency - such as lotion, facewash or lipstick.
Additional Guidelines
Other:
Silo with Dimensions: An image that depicts a full side (usually the main silo) of the product with dimensions applied to the side of the product to illustrate scale. They are used mainly for products types that do not fit on a scale avatar, or have additional required dimensions, like length measurements.
Scale Avatar: An image that depicts a full side (usually the main silo) of the product with dimensions + graphic(s) such as a human body form or human hand to illustrate the dimensions/size of the product. Scale Avatars are mainly used for food & consumable items. (Note: If the product is shorter than 5” in height, use the hand form. If it is between 5”-11”, use the body form. *Anything larger than 11” in height will utilize the Silo with Dimensions image.)
