Overview

Inventory Transfer Service (ITS) moves your inventory to multiple fulfillment centers across the country. You send all your inventory to 1 building, called a transfer station, and we take care of distributing it nationwide for a fee. When you use ITS, you can:

  • Have inventory available across the nation

  • Improve your next-day and weekend delivery

  • Save on inbound shipping costs by sending inventory to only 1 location

  • Streamline prep and tracking by consolidating shipments

Notes:
  • Shipments without ITS approval will be rejected at the transfer station.
  • ITS is currently only available for FTL or LTL shipments, it is not available for parcel shipments.

Eligibility

The Inventory Transfer Service (ITS) is available to all WFS sellers. To enroll, please contact your account manager to request enrollment and approval. Once approved, you will be able to create ITS-eligible shipments and send your inventory to the transfer station. ITS is currently only available for FTL or LTL shipments, it is not available for parcel shipments.

Currently free, changing soon

ITS will be free for all shipments booked through January 15, 2026. Starting January 15, 2026, you’ll see an Inventory transfer service line on the estimated price calculator when booking shipments. ITS will only be charged for shipments booked on or after January 15, 2026, and will not affect any previously booked shipments.

ITS Fees

ITS fees are determined based on the total volume of your shipment, measured in cubic foot (CBF). When you create a shipment, you’ll also see the estimated total cost. Once your items are received at the final fulfillment centers (FCs), they will be measured for their dimensions, and the final ITS fees will be calculated accordingly.

Here’s how to calculate shipping volume:

  • Total Shipment Volume = Total Units x (Length x Width x Height in inches) / 1728

Example Calculation:

  • Units in the shipment: 20 units

  • Item length: 10 inches

  • Item width: 9 inches

  • Item height: 50 inches

  • Total volume = 20 x (10 x 9 x 50)/1728

Item Size

ITS Fees per Cubic Foot (CAD)

Sort

$3.75

Nonsort

$3.25

*Sortable Item: also known as standard-size items. Your item is standard size if it’s <33 lb. with a maximum dimension < 30 inches, a median dimension < 18 inches, and minimum dimension < 18 inches.

*Non-Sortable Item: Your item is non-sortable if it weighs > 33 lb. OR if its longest side is > 30 inches OR if its median side is >18 inches.

Non-compliance Fees

Due to the high volume at the transfer station, all shipments must be prepared according to the instructions outlined in the ITS Seller SOP, and all containers and pallets must be taken back within the time frame specified in the ITS Seller SOP. Failure to comply will result in non-compliance fees.

How does ITS work?

When you create a shipping plan, you’ll see the option to create an ITS shipment. If you choose ITS, you’ll send inventory to a single transfer station. From there, WFS will split the inventory into multiple shipments and distribute it to fulfillment centers across the country.  After arriving at the transfer station, some inventory may become available for sale in approximately 10–15 business days, depending on the destination fulfillment center location.

If you have any questions or would like to know the status about your shipments during this time, please contact your account manager.

Important Information about ITS

  1. ITS is currently available only to WFS sellers, and enrollment is optional. Please reach out to your account manager to inquire about enrollment.

  2. To create an ITS shipment, select the ITS option in Seller Center when creating a shipment.

  3. If you are not using ITS, you must strictly follow the WFS PO allocation and split inventory accordingly. Requests for 100% allocation to Calgary FC will no longer be accepted or processed.

  4. Shipments arriving at the transfer station without the correct ITS label or not created using the ITS option in Seller Center, may incur an additional 30% of the regular ITS fees.

  5. If a shipment is created for ITS but is sent directly to the destination fulfillment center without passing through the transfer station, ITS fees may still apply.

ITS Appointment and Delivery Guidelines

  1. Transfer Station Appointment Lead Time: ITS Appointments must be requested at least 72 hours before delivery. Confirmation will be provided within 1 business day.
  2. Appointment Window: Deliveries must arrive within 45 minutes of the scheduled appointment; late arrivals will be rejected.
  3. Labeling: All ITS shipments must be properly labeled. No labeling services are available at the transfer station; unlabeled shipments will be rejected.
  4. Floor/Drop Loads: These deliveries will be processed and emptied within 5 days of arrival.
  5. Live Loads: These deliveries will be emptied immediately upon arrival.
  6. Trailer Pickup: Trailers must be picked up within 24 hours after unloading notice; late pickups will incur additional storage charges.
  7. Inventory Tracking: The transfer station will perform a case count for each Shipment ID. Detailed unit counts will be done at the destination fulfillment centers.
  8. Non-Compliant Deliveries: Damaged or non-compliant deliveries will be notified to sellers. Sellers must provide disposition instructions within 24 hours of notice, and trailers will be held at ITS-Vancouver for up to 72 hours. If no disposition instructions are provided and no action is taken by sellers within 72 hours, non-compliance fees will apply.
  9. Deliveries Without Paperwork: Deliveries will be rejected if not booked, if details do not match the appointment, or if required paperwork is missing (manifest and/or Bill of Lading).

Terms and Conditions

1. Service Overview

The Inventory Transfer Service (ITS) is provided by Wal-Mart Canada Corp. ("Walmart") via Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). Under this service, sellers deliver purchase orders (POs) to the transfer station. The transfer station then processes and distributes the POs to downstream fulfillment centers (FCs) based on the PO labels provided by the seller. This service is designed to streamline the transfer and distribution of inventory from sellers to Walmart’s fulfillment network.  A complete overview of ITS can be found at ITS MP Learn. These Terms and Conditions will take precedence If there is any conflict between the ITS Overview and these Terms and Conditions.

2. Service Fees and Charges

Service fees are calculated based on the total cubic feet (CBF) of the seller’s inbound shipments. The fees calculated at the time of PO creation are estimates. Final fees may differ and will be confirmed upon inventory being received in the destination fulfillment centers (FC).

Payment for applicable WFS Inventory Transfer Fees will be deducted from amounts payable by Walmart to the Seller under the Comprehensive Walmart Canada Marketplace Program Seller Agreement. Walmart will post charges for applicable Service Fees via Seller Center within thirty (30) days after the date of delivery to Walmart. Walmart reserves the right to collect payment from the Seller by any other lawful means.

Taxes applicable to the Inventory Transfer Service (ITS) will be applied based on the province of the destination fulfillment center (FC) to which the inventory is delivered.

3. Shipment Eligibility and Seller Responsibilities

Only items currently accepted by WFS and eligible for WFS can be sent to and processed by the transfer station.

Sellers must deliver purchase orders (POs) to the transfer station in accordance with the transfer station’s appointment scheduling process, as outlined in the WFS seller help articles and guides. Failure to properly schedule or adhere to appointment times may result in delayed or rejected shipments.

Sellers shall be solely responsible for ensuring that all inventory arriving at WFS transfer stations has cleared customs prior to delivery. Inventory that has not cleared customs will not be processed and will be rejected.

Sellers shall be solely responsible for ensuring that all inventory arriving at the transfer station is safe to offload. If inventory is deemed unsafe to unload, Walmart reserves the right to reject the shipment.

4. Limitation of Liability

Sellers are fully responsible for any damages, losses, or other incidents affecting the inventory prior to its arrival at the WFS transfer station. Sellers must comply with all PO requirements and ensure that all PO information provided is accurate and complete. Failure to do so may result in additional charges, delays, or rejection of the shipment.

Any inventory that is misplaced or damaged after acceptance and processing at the transfer station, and while enroute to the destination fulfillment center (FC), will be subject to thorough review and investigation. If the inventory is determined to be misplaced or damaged due to WFS’s fault following an inspection, reimbursement will be issued based on the Average Sales Price (as defined in the WFS Agreement) minus fulfilment and commission fees, to the seller. Except for the foregoing reimbursement, THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) IN NO EVENT WILL WALMART BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (HOWEVER CAUSED AND REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY), EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY THEREOF; AND (B) THE TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY OF WALMART, FOR ALL COSTS, LOSSES OR DAMAGES TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FROM ALL CLAIMS, ACTIONS, CLASS ACTIONS, OR SUITS, HOWEVER CAUSED, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE ITS OR ASSOCIATED SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CDN $100). THE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY REFLECT THE ALLOCATION OF RISK BETWEEN THE PARTIES.

Walmart reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Inventory Transfer Service at any time, or to modify or amend these Terms of Service upon thirty (30) days’ notice to Sellers. Any ITS purchase orders (POs) actively in transit at the time of termination will be honored by Walmart until the inventory reaches its destination fulfillment center (FC).

The Inventory Transfer Service is subject to the terms and conditions of the Comprehensive Walmart Canada Marketplace Program Seller Agreement. Sellers are advised to review these Terms and Conditions carefully prior to utilizing the Inventory Transfer Service. By opting for the Inventory Transfer Service (ITS), Sellers acknowledge and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
