Overview

Walmart Canada Marketplace sellers are responsible for configuring their Sales Tax settings as well as Shipping Sales Tax codes.

Steps to Configure Sales Tax in Seller Center

To configure your Sales Tax settings in Seller Center, please follow the below steps:

  1. Log in to Seller Center.

  2. Click on Settings and a drop-down will appear.

  3. Under Partner Profile, select Taxes from the drop-down.

4. Click Edit Tax Profile

5. Enter your Federal and Provincial tax information then click Submit Changes.

The format for the tax registration numbers is as follows:

  • Canada (Federal) (GST/HST) - 9 numeric, 2 alpha, 4 numeric

  • Provincial:

    • British Columbia (PST) - 11 characters long and in this format: PST-1234-5678

    • Quebec (QST) - 10 numeric 2 alpha, 4 numeric

    • Manitoba and Saskatchewan (PST) - there is no need to provide your PST registration number, as Walmart collects and remits this tax on your sales.

Please keep in mind that if your Sales Tax registration requirement changes in the future, you must return to this page to update your settings.

Pro tip
Upload the following supporting tax documents based on the update you’re making to avoid delays.
  • Updating the Business Address – upload the following:

    • Articles of Incorporation (AOI) or Notice of Assessment (NOA) or Business License (BL) (must show legal company name and the registered address).

    • Utility bill or bank statement. Must be dated within the last 6 months and have the company name and the registered address same as the AOI.

  • Updating the Tax Registration - Upload the below screenshot/s from tax website/s that applies to you.

    • Screenshot from the tax website showing Canada TRN details.

    • Screenshot from the tax website showing PST details.

    • Screenshot from the tax website showing QST details.

Review the How to Obtain Supporting Tax Documents article for instructions to retrieve the screenshots of your proof of registration by tax jurisdiction.

Pro tip

In some cases you may need to upload supporting documents for both updating your Business Address and Tax Registration.

Shipping Sales Tax Codes

You need to assign a Sales Tax code for each supported shipping method, which will determine and calculate the Sales Tax to be charged on the shipping fee for your customers' orders. Please consult your tax advisor if you need more guidance on which tax code you should select.
