Marketplace Sellers are required to abide by Walmart's packaging policies as described below. Following these requirements improves the Walmart brand, builds customer trust, and improves the customer experience.
Customer orders from Walmart.ca may not reference any other business or fulfillment provider. Under this policy, Marketplace sellers may not purchase products from another retailer and have the order shipped directly to a Walmart customer.
Package Standards
Poor packaging leads to customer complaints and higher return rates.
- The size of the shipping package should match the item size correctly and be secure for shipping and handling.
- Packaging should appear like-new. Item boxes should not be torn, damaged, or scratched.
- Packaging should be sturdy and intact in order to protect the product within
Shipping Label
The following information should always be included on your shipping label for packages:
- Customer's Full Name
- Order # - (Ex. Order# 8462048000128 )
- Tracking #
- Delivery Address
Outside Box
- Always ship in a non-branded box.
- Seller-branded boxes are prohibited.
- Other retailers’ packaging (Amazon, eBay, Rakuten, etc.) is prohibited.
- Your Seller Name and address can be on the box, as is required for shipping.
Inside Box
- Sellers may offer packing slips as a convenience to customers, but including a packing slip is not required.
- Walmart now provides packing slips in the Order Dashboard section of Seller Center. Unbranded packing slips are also acceptable.
- Do not include promotional material(s) from your company or any other entity.
- Do not include original invoices from your suppliers showing your cost.
- Do not include packing slip or invoices from other retailers.
Non-compliance with these policies may result in warnings, selling restrictions or even suspension (temporary or indefinite).
Packing Slips
Packing slips are printed documents included in packages from Marketplace orders placed through Walmart.ca. You can also add packing slips to the outsides of boxes using a plastic sleeve or similar attachment. Each sheet gives the customer information about the package, including:
- Order details
- Item(s)’ description and quantity ordered
- Your name and contact phone number
- Email instructions for contacting you via “My Account”

Packing slips convey more details about the orders to distinguish that these are Marketplace orders, with a different set of customer service instructions and contact information.
Seller Center generates packing slips automatically. You don’t need to enable or create them. Simply click on the Print icon and then click Print Packing Slip within the Order Details page of an order.
