We recommend sending inventory updates based on the rate of sale for your item and your shipment of orders. This will ensure that the correct inventory is displayed on Walmart.ca and will help you avoid overselling. You do not need to provide inventory updates on your entire catalog in each feed. You can provide updates for only those items whose inventory count has changed.

 If you are selling on other marketplaces and your own website, you should frequently provide inventory updates to Walmart. Oversell issues arise when Sellers share the same inventory across multiple channels and don’t update often enough when items sell on other channels. For example, if you have an inventory of 10, you might list 10 on Walmart and 10 on your own site. If you don't update inventory frequently, you may end up selling 6 items on your website and 5 on Walmart, which would mean you sold a total of 11.

Walmart keeps track of your Open Orders and subtracts them from what's displayed on Walmart.ca to prevent overselling. If you account for these Open Orders when calculating your inventory without shipping them, these units will be double counted. For example, imagine you had 100 items available to sell, noticed that you had 30 Open Orders, and resubmitted your inventory as 70. If you do not ship your Open Orders, Walmart will continue to subtract them and will display only 40 items on Walmart.ca. Failure to acknowledge orders can cause your item to have a lower count displayed on Walmart.ca and result in underselling. You should ship your orders to avoid underselling.

When a customer places an order on Walmart.ca, it is added to the Walmart Open Orders. This quantity is immediately reduced from the count displayed on Walmart.ca until the order is shipped or closed (after shipment confirmation or order cancellation). Orders will be released to the Seller only after a new customer's payment information has passed a fraud check (typically 4-5 hours).

• New orders were placed after the feed was sent, so inventory is reserved. The Seller's inventory count is equal to the number of open Walmart orders in the system. If the order was placed by a new customer, it may take 4-5 hours for the fraud check to finish and for their order to be released to you.
• You have not shipped released orders. For example, if you subtracted Walmart Open Orders from your inventory count without shipping those orders, these orders would be double counted. Once you ship the orders, they will not be considered Walmart Open Orders and will not be subtracted from the count displayed on Walmart.ca.

The feed file is still in the processing or publishing stage. After you submit the feed it may take a few minutes for the inventory change to be reflected on Walmart.ca.
